A cooling device for a battery that is mounted in a vehicle includes: a cooling fan that is configured to suck air in a vehicle interior, and to blow the sucked air to the battery; an intake air temperature sensor that is configured to detect a temperature of the air sucked by the cooling fan; and an electronic control unit that is configured (i) to control the cooling fan, and (ii) to prohibit the cooling fan from being operated when a detected value of the intake air temperature sensor is lower than a first temperature.

A battery includes at least an electrode group including a positive electrode, a separator, a negative electrode, and a protection layer. The separator is interposed between the positive electrode and the negative electrode. The positive electrode includes a positive electrode current collector, a positive electrode mixture layer, and a positive electrode tab. The positive electrode mixture layer is disposed on a surface of the positive electrode current collector. The positive electrode tab is electrically connected to the positive electrode current collector. The protection layer covers a surface of the positive electrode tab. A volume resistivity of the protection layer is within a range of one to 100 times a volume resistivity of the positive electrode mixture layer.

Battery and manufacturing method of the same

When a voltage value of an electrical storage device becomes higher than a predetermined voltage value for identifying an overcharged state of the electrical storage device, calculation of a heat generation amount of the electrical storage device based on a current value is started. When the calculated heat generation amount is larger than a predetermined amount, it is determined that the electrical storage device is in an abnormal state (abnormal state related to heating). Because the electrical storage device enters an easily heated state when the voltage value becomes higher than the predetermined voltage value, the heat generation amount may be monitored by starting calculation of the heat generation amount. Once the voltage value becomes higher than the predetermined voltage value, irrespective of a high/low relationship between the voltage value and the predetermined voltage value, the abnormal state may be determined by monitoring the heat generation amount.

Electrical storage system

A power supply system includes a controller. The controller is configured to; a) control charging and discharging of an electrical storage device upon reception of an output of a current sensor and a voltage sensor, b) calculate a control current value by subtracting an offset value from a detected value of the current sensor, c) calculate a first determination result and a second determination result, respectively obtained by determining whether the electrical storage device is being charged or discharged based on the control current value, and based on a change in a remaining amount of charge of the electrical storage device, and d) when the first determination result and the second determination result differ from each other, change the offset value such that the first determination result coincides with the second determination result.

Power storage system includes battery containing an electrolytic solution, and ECU that controls permission and prohibition of charge/discharge of battery based on inside temperature of battery. ECU sets determination temperature equal to or higher than freezing point of the electrolytic solution and determination temperature higher than determination temperature. ECU prohibits charge/discharge of battery when inside temperature falls below determination temperature while the electrolytic solution is in a liquid state, and cancels the prohibition of charge/discharge of battery when the electrolytic solution turns into the liquid state from a state in which the electrolytic solution is at least partially solidified, and when the temperature of battery exceeds determination temperature.

Power storage system and method for controlling the same

A control system for a battery includes a current sensor and an electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to calculate a first error and a second offset error of the current sensor respectively based on outputs of the current sensor just before a stop of the electronic control unit and at startup of the electronic control unit. The electronic control unit is configured to correct an output of the current sensor by using a first error when a temperature of the current sensor at startup of the electronic control unit is higher than or equal to a threshold temperature, and correct the output of the current sensor by using a second error when the temperature of the current sensor at startup of the electronic control unit is lower than the threshold temperature.

A control apparatus for a hybrid vehicle including an engine and a motor, includes a controller to update an allowable input current value in accordance with the battery state and to control an input to the battery, the allowable input current value being the maximum current value to which the battery input is permitted. The controller performs control such that limitation of the battery input in accordance with the allowable input current value is not performed if a deterioration degree of a catalyst for purifying an exhaust gas from the engine is larger than a predetermined value when an engine braking force and a regenerative motor braking force are applied during deceleration.

In a hybrid vehicle, an ECU executes a forced charging control for forcibly charging a battery by using an engine and a vehicle driving device in a case where a remaining capacity of the battery is equal to or less than a predetermined value. In a case where an evaluation value shows a degree of deterioration of the battery attributable to excessive charging, the ECU uses a first electric power as an electric charging power for charging the battery when an absolute value of the evaluation value is equal to or lower than a first threshold, and uses a second electric power falling short of the first electric power as the electric charging power for charging the battery when the absolute value of the evaluation value is higher than the first threshold in a case where the forced charging control is executed while the hybrid vehicle is stopped.

Battery charge/discharge control device and hybrid vehicle using the same

The first battery is configured to be charged and discharged with a larger current than the second battery. The second battery has a higher storage capacity than the first battery. When the voltage of the second battery is lower than the voltage of the first battery, the controller allows charging of the second battery through the second relay while prohibiting charging of the first battery through the first relay until the voltage of the second battery reaches the voltage of the first battery.

An estimation apparatus of estimating a deterioration state of a secondary battery has a current sensor measuring an electric current of the secondary battery, a current estimating section estimating the electric current of the secondary battery by using a battery model, and a deterioration estimating section estimating a second deterioration component produced in association with a salt concentration imbalance in the secondary battery. The deterioration estimating section estimates the second deterioration component by using the measured current obtained from the current sensor, the estimated current obtained from the current estimating section, and a first deterioration component produced in association with wear of the secondary battery. The deterioration estimating section corrects the estimated current by using a ratio between a resistance change rate of the secondary battery when the second deterioration component is eliminated and a resistance change rate during charge and discharge of the secondary battery.
