A method of manufacturing a covering member includes: providing a first light-reflective member comprising a through-hole, the through-hole having first and second openings; arranging a light-transmissive resin containing a wavelength-conversion material within the through-hole; distributing the wavelength-conversion material predominantly on a side of the first opening of the through-hole within the light-transmissive resin; and after the step of distributing the wavelength-conversion material, removing a portion of the light-transmissive resin from a side of the second opening of the through-hole.

A method for manufacturing a light emitting device includes: preparing a baseplate having a plate surface on which a protrusion is disposed; forming a first resin frame having an opening on the plate surface, wherein the opening is located above the protrusion; forming a second resin in the opening; detaching the baseplate; bonding a light emitting element to a surface of the second resin surface that has been exposed as a result of detaching the baseplate; and forming a third resin that surrounds lateral faces of the light emitting element and that covers and contacts a portion of the first resin frame.

A method for manufacturing a light emitting device includes: forming a first reflector that covers outer peripheral faces of a light transmissive member; forming a light guiding member covering at least a portion of the light transmissive member, a portion of a lower face of the first reflector, and at least some portions of lateral faces of a light emitting element disposed under the light transmissive member; and forming a second reflector covering a portion of the lower face of the first reflector that is exposed from the light guiding member and located outward of the light guiding member.

A light emitting device includes a light transmissive member; a first reflector covering outer peripheral faces of the light transmissive member; a light emitting element disposed under the light transmissive member; a light guiding member covering at least a portion of the light transmissive member, a portion of a lower face of the first reflector, and at least some portions of lateral faces of the light emitting element; and a second reflector covering a portion of the lower face of the first reflector that is exposed from the light guiding member and is located outward of the light guiding member.

A light emitting device includes: a covering member including a first light-reflective member having a through-hole, and a light-transmissive resin disposed in the through-hole; a light-emitting element arranged to face the light-transmissive resin; a second light-reflective member arranged to face the first light-reflective member around the light-emitting element, the second light-reflective member covering a lateral surface of the light-emitting element; and a bonding member bonding the light-transmissive resin and the light-emitting element, the bonding member covering at least a part of the lateral surface of the light-emitting element. A light emitting device includes a light emitting element having an upper face and lateral faces; a light transmissive member covering at least a portion of the upper face of the light emitting element and transmitting light emitted from the light emitting element; a first reflector covering at least a portion of lateral faces of the light transmissive member; and a second reflector covering the lateral faces of the light emitting element. The first reflector includes a first bottom face and a second bottom face. A plane in which the first bottom face of the first reflector extends is different than a plane in which a lower face of the light transmissive member extends. The second bottom face of the first reflector is located inward of the first bottom face of the first reflector, and is coplanar with the lower face of the light transmissive member. The first bottom face of the first reflector is covered by and in contact with the second reflector.
