A product inspection device and method for correctly calculating consumer and producer risks irrespective of the type of distribution of products. A characteristic value representing a predetermined product characteristic is measured for each product as a product measurement value, and a standard deviation of measurement variations in measurement results is calculated as a measurement value standard deviation. The products are determined to be conforming based on whether the measured product measurement value falls within a range of a product standard. Consumer and producer risks are calculated based on the measurement variations. The calculated consumer and producer risks are respectively and successively added up and it is determined whether the number of products having undergone the adding have reached a predetermined number. If so, the added up consumer risk and producer risk are divided by the number of products to calculate a final consumer risk and a final producer risk.

Upper and lower limits of predetermined characteristic values of products contained in a plurality of product lots are stored in accordance with the product standard for a target product. An average value of standard deviations in the characteristic values is calculated based on a control chart for the product lots. A measurement standard deviation representing a variation in a measuring instrument with regard to the characteristic values is estimated. A product inspection device that includes a measuring section, a deemed standard deviation calculation unit, a measurement value standard deviation calculation unit, a determination unit, and a risk calculation unit. The measuring section measures characteristic values of products, the deemed standard deviation calculation unit calculates a deemed standard deviation, and the risk calculation unit calculates a consumer risk and a producer risk based on at least one of an average value of the measured characteristic values of some of the products contained in a measured product lot, the deemed standard deviation, or the measurement value standard deviation. The determination unit changes a inspection standard based on at least one of the calculated consumer risk or the calculated producer risk, and determines whether or not all the products contained in the product lot are non-defective articles with the changed inspection standard as a reference.

The standard deviation calculation unit changes variables of a probability distribution of a deemed standard deviation such that the number of products belonging to at least one of a predetermined plurality of ranks re-discriminated at least once and an estimated number of the products belonging to the rank in a rank estimated number calculation unit substantially match each other, and calculates the changed variables as a standard deviation of characteristic value variation of the products and a standard deviation of measurement value variation.

A delay line comprising a dielectric substrate including a pair of main surfaces; a transmission line disposed on one of the main surfaces of the dielectric substrate; a ground conductor disposed on the other of the main surfaces of the dielectric substrate; and at least one of a variable capacitor and a diode being disposed on the dielectric substrate and connected in parallel to the transmission line for setting a desired delay time of the delay line. In the above delay line, the delay time can be adjusted even after the delay line is mounted on a printed circuit board, and further, the delay time can be continuously adjusted. The delay line can also be formed in a multilayer structure rather than on the above dielectric substrate.

Coupling capacitors are connected on both sides of the respective diodes. A portable telephone includes a portable telephone body made from plastic having a receiver, a transmitter, and dial keys, and a chip antenna which is mounted on a circuit board secured at the inside of the portable telephone body and which is electrically connected to an RF section provided on the circuit board in the portable telephone. The chip antenna is disposed near the transmitter at a location where a transmitted electromagnetic signal is unlikely to be affected by the body of a person who is holding the portable telephone.

Antenna device

A small-sized oscillator which readily oscillates and an oscillation apparatus using same are described. In the oscillator, an oscillation transistor, such as a silicon bipolar transistor, is arranged on a dielectric substrate and a quarter-wave open-circuit terminal stub is connected to the base of the oscillation transistor. Also, the collector of the oscillation transistor is grounded through a capacitor. In addition, the emitter of the oscillation transistor is connected to the collector and base through feedback capacitors C,and C,respectively. In this case, the quarter-wave open-circuit terminal stub can be considered grounded from the standpoint of distributed constants, and accordingly, the oscillator is also grounded.
