An information processing device selects, in a case where a plurality of pieces of data are collected and transmitted to a tape drive to be recorded on a magnetic tape, one mode of a first mode of transmitting a data group obtained by collecting the plurality of pieces of data without compression, to the tape drive, a second mode of transmitting a compressed data group in which the data group obtained by collecting the plurality of pieces of data is compressed, to the tape drive, or a third mode of transmitting a data group obtained by collecting a part of the plurality of pieces of data and remaining data, in which the part of the plurality of pieces of data is compressed and the remaining data is not compressed, to the tape drive, and transmits a data group generated in accordance with the selected mode, to the tape drive.

An information processing device performs control to record deletion information indicating that an object with a designated object ID has been deleted, on a recording medium, in a case where a specific object ID is designated and an instruction to delete the object is input, for a magnetic tape on which an object that includes data and metadata related to the data and that is assigned an object ID as identification information is recorded, the object being assigned an object ID in a case where the object is updated different from an object ID of the object before the update.

A backup method is provided for a file system for managing hierarchical storage including one or more storage media on a computer system including one or more computers. Each of the one or more storage media includes a data part which is separated from an index and on which updated information is appended and kept. Each of a plurality of pieces of data within the file system is managed to be migrated to at least any of the one or more storage media. The backup method includes backing up metadata of the plurality of pieces of data migrated within the file system; and backing up the index of each of the one or more storage media to which the plurality of pieces of data have been migrated, substantially at the same time point as the metadata.

Communicating data with a medium is provided. A cache is provided for storing target data of a file identified by an access request from an application of a host. The cache is divided into a read cache, a write cache, and an index cache. Responsive to receiving the access request: the medium is loaded onto a drive using a file system; target data is stored to the write cache and to the read cache; and the index file stored in the index cache is updated to reflect position metadata about the target data stored in the write cache. Responsive to initiating unloading of the medium from the drive: the updated index file stored in the index cache is written to the index partition of the medium; and the target data stored in the write cache is written onto a data partition of the medium without using the file system.

In one embodiment, an information processing apparatus for files stored in a storage device includes: a metadata management unit for managing metadata of files stored in the storage device; a map generation unit for generating a map which indicates whether metadata associated with an identification value uniquely identifying a file in the storage device is present or absent; and a backup management unit for scanning the metadata to detect files that have been created, modified, or deleted since the last backup, and storing at least a data block and the metadata for a detected file in a backup storage device as backup information in association with the identification value.

A method, system and computer program product for facilitating a meeting is implemented in a server computer and provides a graphical user interface to one or more client devices. The server displays a mind map of a center topic on the clients. The server collects statements of participants, and extracts words and phrases therefrom, to identify topics that are currently being discussed. The server determines whether a transition has occurred between the topics, and then calculates a correlation between the topics that are currently being discussed and the center topic. The server determines a location of the topics that are currently being discussed on the mind map, based on the calculated correlation, and displays an updated mind map on the clients. The server generates a warning on the clients when the server determines that the meeting proceedings are being retarded, based on the calculated correlation.

An information providing system and method, including a computer, for providing time taken to read a file, which includes an acquisition unit. The acquisition unit obtains information on a recording position of a file when the file is recorded in a storage device. A recording unit writes information on the obtained recording position to an index referred to access the file. A calculation unit calculates time taken to read the file using the information on the recording position written to the index in response to a request to obtain the time taken to read the file, and providing the calculated time to a requester that requests the time.

An embodiment of the present invention provides a computer-implemented method for associating one or more test cases with one or more source code parts for a test target, or vice versa. The method comprises the followings: obtaining one or more historical data in which one or more modification histories made in one or more source codes are associated with one or more test operation histories made in the test target after the one or more modifications; for each of the historical data, determining whether the test operation history has one or more parts which are identical or similar with those in one or more test cases; and if the determination is positive, associating the one or more test cases with one or more source code parts in the one or more modification histories which have been associated with the test operation history, or vice versa.

The index files contain information about start positions and lengths of corresponding data files recorded on normal tapes. The first index file is read out from the management tape mounted on a first tape drive. The data file to be rolled back is read out of a first normal tape. A method according to one embodiment includes instructing a first tape drive to load a parent tape medium, and instructing the first tape drive to retrieve identification (ID) information about the parent tape medium from metadata stored (saved) thereon. The first tape drive is instructed to write a first file part of a file to the parent tape medium. Information about the file and information about the first file part are written to the parent tape medium as metadata. A second tape drive is instructed to load and retrieve ID information about a child tape medium from metadata stored thereon. The second tape drive is instructed to write one or more subsequent file parts of the file to the child tape medium. The first tape drive is instructed to write the ID information about the child tape medium and attribute information about the one or more subsequent file parts stored to the child tape medium as metadata to the parent tape medium.
