The present invention is directed to an object lens drive device adapted for moving an object lens in a focus direction of optical axis direction and in a tracking direction perpendicular to the optical axis direction, and includes a fixed position provided in such a manner that a supporting shaft is projected, a movable portion comprised of an object lens, and a bobbin adapted so that the object lens is attached and a hole through the supporting shaft is inserted is formed, the bobbin being supported movably along the supporting shaft and rotatably with the supporting shaft being as center, a drive portion including a magnet portion provided at either one of the fixed potion and the movable portion, and a coil portion provided at the other portion to move the movable portion along the supporting shaft to thereby move the object lens in the focus direction, and to rotate the bobbin with the supporting shaft being as center to thereby move the object lens in the tracking direction, and supporting means including a magnetic member for supporting the movable portion in the state inclined with respect to the supporting shaft.

Object lens drive device, and disc recording and/or reproducing apparatus

The present invention relates to an objective lens driver including: a support base formed of a magnetic material, comprising a base portion, a support shaft projected from the base portion, and a pair of yokes respectively projected in the same direction as the support shaft from both side edges of the base portion and located oppositely to each other with the support shaft therebetween, the yokes having opposed surfaces to which magnets are fitted; and a movable portion supported on the support shaft of the support base so as to be turnable around the axis of the support shaft and slidable in the axial direction of the support shaft, holding an objective lens having an optical axis substantially coinciding with the axial direction of the support shaft, and comprising a focusing coil supplied with a driving current at the time of focusing control of laser light radiated onto a disk type recording medium through the objective lens, and at least a pair of tracking coils supplied with a driving current at the time of tracking control of the laser light, wherein the magnets, the yokes, the base portion, and the support shaft form a magnetic circuit.

Objective lens driver and disk drive device comprising the same

Objective lens drive device, and disk recording and/or reproducing device

A disk accommodating housing and a recording apparatus which can protect written data in a divisional data area of a recording medium with certainty where the data should not be erased inadvertently or in error are disclosed. A recording medium having first and second areas is accommodated in the housing which has an indicator for indicating one of first, second and third modes. The recording apparatus detects the mode indicated by the indicator and operates in accordance with the mode. In the first mode, writing or erasing operations into or from the first and second areas of the recording medium by a recording head are enabled; in the second mode, a writing operation into the first area is enabled while a writing operation into the second area is inhibited; and in the third mode, writing operations into both of the first and second areas are inhibited.

Recording apparatus having a function to prevent recording of a signal

Laser light beams from first and second laser light sources 11 and 12 having different wavelengths are synthesized by a dichroic mirror 16 and irradiated on a magneto-optical disc 20 as a recordable disc and the reflected light is separated into the laser light of the first and second wavelengths. In respect of the laser light of the first wavelength, the phase difference between the P- and S-polarization components produced by the dichroic mirror 16 is compensated by a phase compensation plate 32 and the P-and S-polarization components are separated from each other by a polarization beam splitter 36 so as to be received by photodetector elements 37 and 38, respectively. Such dichroic mirror 16 is used in which the difference between the minimum transmittance in a working range of the laser light of the first wavelength and the maximum transmittance in a working range of the laser light of the second wavelength is 90% or higher for reducing changes in the phase difference between the P- and S-polarization components. Optimum signals may be obtained at the photodetector elements 37 and 38 while high wavelength separation characteristics are maintained.

Optical pickup device for recordable disc and dichroic mirror

A disk recording and reproducing apparatus using two light beams has a disk driving section for loading a disk-shaped record medium having recording tracks and for rotating the disk-shaped record medium, an optical system having a light beam generating source, a light beam splitting device for splitting a light beam to provide at least a main beam and a sub beam, an optical path forming device for respectively causing the main beam and the sub beam to become incident on two adjacent recording tracks in the disk-shaped record medium loaded on the disk driving section and a photo-detecting device for detecting the condition that at least the sub beam from the disk-shaped record medium loaded on the disk driving section is affected by the recording track. Also provided is a disk rotation control section for controlling the disk driving section such that a relative moving speed of the recording track relative to the main beam incident on the recording track becomes constant, a recording operation section causing the information to be recorded on the recording track on which the main beam becomes incident, and a reproducing operation section for generating a read-out information signal based on a detected output of the sub beam from the photo-detecting device. The resultant read-out information signal is written in a memory at a rate corresponding to the read-out information signal and the read-out information signal written in the memory is read out again at a predetermined reading rate to generate a reproduced information output.

Multiple beam optical disk apparatus with multiple clock extracting

A disk recording and/or reproducing apparatus includes a cover mounted on a main body for movement between open and closed positions, a disk presser unit operably mounted on the cover of the apparatus such that it cooperates with a spindle drive unit for holding the disk, a holder cover attached to the cover for movement therewith, and a controller to control the holder to permit movement of the disk presser when the cover is in the closed position, so that when the spindle unit and disk table are moved radially relative to the disk, the presser unit is moved as well.

Recording and/or reproducing apparatus for a disk

In an apparatus for reproducing digitized signals recorded in successive, substantially circular tracks on a rotated disc by means of a pickup of the optical type which, in a normal scanning state, scans the tracks in succession; a first or prepare-to-play command signal causes the pickup to reproduce the digitized signals for a predetermined interval corresponding to more than one of the tracks on the disc starting from a desired position on such one track and the digitized signals reproduced in that predetermined interval are stored, desirably in a random access memory (RAM), whereupon a standby state of the pickup is established in which the pickup traces a closed loop on the rotated disc within a range corresponding to the previously mentioned predetermined interval. Upon reception of a second or play command signal, the pickup is released from its standby state at the completion of the tracing of the closed loop during which the play command signal occurred and the normal scanning state of the pickup is reestablished. Further, in response to the second or play command signal, the stored digitized signals are read out from the RAM and transmitted, starting with the signals corresponding to the desired position irrespective of the rotational position of the disc at the time of the play command signal, and the digitized signals reproduced by the pickup on the reestablishment of its normal scanning state and, more particularly, commencing with the digitized signals following the predetermined interval, are sequentially stored in the RAM and then sequentially read out and transmitted therefrom.

Disc reproducing apparatus

An apparatus for playing information recorded on a disc in substantially circular tracks on the latter includes a device for rotating the disc; a pickup for reproducing the information recorded on the disc; a tracking control circuit for adjusting the tracking position of the pickup in forward and reverse transverse directions with respect to the tracks; and a circuit operative through the tracking control circuit for selectively establishing a slow-playback mode and a reverse slow-playback mode in each of which, after the pickup reproduces a respective first predetermined number of the tracks while moving in the forward transverse direction, the tracking position of the pickup is moved in the reverse transverse direction a respective second predetermined integral number of tracks, the second predetermined number of tracks being less than twice the first predetermined number of tracks.
