The present disclosure relates to prosthesis systems having trays and liners having an asymmetrical locking mechanism to bias the strength of the liner to resist loading forces and associated methods. The tray has a lateral groove disposed in an inner surface of a lateral circumferential portion of the tray and a medial groove disposed in an inner surface of a medial circumferential portion of the tray. The liner has an upper segment and a lower segment. The liner has a locking portion for lockingly engaging the tray that includes the lower segment. The locking portion has a lateral toe positioned generally diametrically opposite a plurality of resiliently deformable medial fingers defined therein. The liner and the tray are engageable in a lateral-to-medial direction so that the plurality of medial fingers can resiliently deform to engage the medial groove subsequent to engagement of the lateral toe within the lateral groove.

Directional locking reverse shoulder prostheses and systems

Methods and systems for installing an implant in an intramedullary canal are discussed. In an example, an intramedullary sounder tool has a sounder head including a plurality of teeth extending proximally from a distal tip towards a shank extending from the sounder head, each tooth comprising a distal cutting edge, a middle scraping edge, and a proximal cutting edge. The sounder head can be advanced into the intramedullary canal until the scraping edge engages cortical bone. If the scraping edge does not engage cortical bone, sounder tools having successively larger diameters can be advanced into the intramedullary canal until a scraping edge does engage the cortical wall, thereby avoiding cutting and damaging of the cortical bone. At such point, the width of the intramedullary canal and the implant used therein can be determined using markings on the shank that indicate the diameter of the sounder head.

An assembly tool for assembling components of an implant can include a finger assembly, a handle assembly, and a crossbar assembly. The finger assembly can include first and second fingers oriented parallel to each other, and sized and shaped to releasably engage first and second components of the implant during assembly. The handle assembly can include first and second handles pivotally connected to each other and configured to control movement of the first and second fingers. The crossbar assembly can be configured to maintain the first and second fingers substantially parallel to each other during movement of the first and second fingers. The assembly tool can be used for assembling a bearing assembly to an ulnar component of an elbow prosthesis.

An elbow prosthesis can include a humeral component having a yoke, an ulnar component having a head, a humeral bearing positionable in a base of the humeral component, an ulnar bearing assembly configured to engage with the head, and a pin extendable through the bearing assembly and the head. The pin can be extendable into first and second ears of the yoke to enable pivotable movement of the ulnar component relative to the humeral component. The elbow prosthesis can include a first fastener insertable through the first ear of the yoke and configured to engage with the pin, and a second fastener insertable through the second ear of the yoke and configured to engage with the pin.

A tooling system and method is disclosed for removing a head portion of a modular implant from a stem portion of the implant. The tooling system can include first and second tools configured to releasably mate together when the upper and lower tools are in an assembled position, and a holder configured to releasably secure the first and second tools in the assembled position. The first and second tools can be inserted between the head portion and an adaptor of the stem portion. When the first and second tools are rotated in opposite directions, the first tool can exert pressure on the head portion of the implant sufficient to release the head portion from locked engagement with the adaptor. The first and second tools can include mating features that disengage from each other as the tools are rotated in opposite directions.

A modular elbow prosthesis including an ulnar component and a humeral component. The ulnar component includes an ulnar head and an ulnar stem. The humeral component includes a humeral head and a humeral stem. The humeral component also includes a locking system for securing the humeral head onto the humeral stem.

A fastener is provided that may be readily threadingly engaged with and/or disengaged from a threaded shaft without the need to threadingly advance the fastener along substantially the entire length of the threaded shaft. In one exemplary embodiment, a quick release nut is provided that includes an upper body portion and a lower body portion that are rotatably connected to one another. Each of the upper body portion and the lower body portion include central apertures extending therethrough with the walls defining the central apertures of the upper and lower body portions being at least partially threaded.
