Methods and structure for accounting are provided for enhancing communications via a PCIE bridge. The bridge comprises a host interface that manages communications with a host device, and a PCIE interface that provides Memory Read Requests (MRds) to a PCIE device and receives Memory Read Completions (MRCs) from the PCIE device. The bridge also comprises a control unit that inserts tag information into the MRds. The control unit detects a reset of the host interface and revises the tag information inserted into the MRds responsive to detecting the reset. Additionally, the control unit analyzes tag information of received MRCs to determine whether it is the revised tag information or is old tag information, returns completion data from MRCs having the revised tag information to the host device, and discards completion data from received MRCs having the old tag information.

Methods and structure for accounting for connection resets between peripheral component interconnect express bridges and host devices

An arbitration and synchronization method and system for allowing multiple processors to access a shared memory includes an arbitrator. The arbitrator is operable with the processors for enabling each of the processors exclusive access to the memory for a predetermined time period on a rotating basis. In operation, a time period of a time frame is associated with each of the processors. The time periods of the time frame are then counted. The arbitrator then enables a processor to have exclusive access to the shared memory for the time period associated with the processor when the counted time period is the time period associated with the processor.

A dither signal source generates a dither signal which is spectrally shaped in a desired manner. One or more notches are located at desired frequencies while minimizing the hardware required in a digital signal processor for generating the digital random noise for the dither signal source. The notched dither signal can be added to an analog signal prior to digitization to reduce quantization distortion without adding noise to the frequency range of interest.

A system to perform real time temporal correlation on pulsed and periodic signals. Application is to systems which perform PRI analysis of signals and provide signal gain as part of the correlation process. Correlation is performed in two stages, the first conditioning the signals for correlation using the zero mean, PW matched filter and the second performing temporal correlation using the difference minimization PRI correlator. The primary purpose of the filter is to minimize any DC signals before they reach the correlator. If DC signals reach the correlator, they correlate up at every PRI setting and on every temporal point, resulting in false detections and can block actual signals from detection. The filter also provides some gain for signals with pulse widths greater than one temporal cell. After conditioning with the filter, the data is correlated using a difference minimization correlator. The primary purpose of the correlator is to correlate signals of the selected PRI while rejecting signals which are not of the selected PRI. The correlator tracks pulses which are not aligned to temporal cell boundaries by a decision based upon the minimum difference between the normalized output, the current input and a time shifted input. By minimizing the difference, the noise is correlated with noise and the signal is correlated with signal. Pulse edges of the signal are maintained while maintaining the noise growth to a minimum.
