A synergistic microbicidal composition having two components. The first component is a nonionic surfactant with structure: RO(CHCH(CH)O)(CHCHO)H, where Ris a Calkyl group. The second component is 4,4-dimethyloxazolidine. The weight ratio of the nonionic surfactant to 4,4-dimethyloxazolidine is from 1:0.0286 to 1:0.1143 or 1:0.32 to 1:0.9143.

Microbicidal composition

A synergistic microbicidal composition having two components. The first component is a nonionic surfactant with structure: RO(CHCH(CH)O)(CHCHO)H, where Ris a mixture of C-Clinear alkyl groups. The second component is tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane. The weight ratio of the nonionic surfactant to tris(hydroxymethyl)nitromethane is from 1:0.16 to 1:1.8286.

An aqueous microbicidal composition having two components. The first component is 0.5-5 wt % of a mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one and 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one. The second component is 1-10 wt % of a nonionic surfactant comprising a C-Calkyl group, an average of 3-7 moles polymerized units of propylene oxide and an average of 5-12 moles polymerized units of ethylene oxide.

A synergistic microbicidal composition. The composition comprises a silver-containing copolymer comprising polymerized units of a monomer X and a monomer Y; wherein monomer X is an ethylenically unsaturated compound having a substituent group selected from an unsaturated or aromatic heterocyclic group having at least one hetero atom selected from N, O and S; wherein monomer Y is selected from carboxylic acids, carboxylic acid salts, carboxylic acid esters, organosulfuric acids, organosulfuric acid salts, sulfonic acids, sulfonic acid salts, phosphonic acids, phosphonic acid salts, vinyl esters, (meth)acrylamides, C-Caromatic monomers containing at least one exocyclic ethylenic unsaturation and combinations thereof; and at least one organic biocide.

Microbicide combinations containing silver

A method for treating water in a closed cooling system, having a pH of at least 7 and a temperature of at least 25&#xb0; C., by adding a composition comprising 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one; wherein the composition is substantially free of non-aqueous solvents, volatile organic compounds and halogenated biocides; and wherein 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one is present in an amount sufficient to produce in the water a 2-methyl-4-isothiazolin-3-one concentration from 15 ppm to 500 ppm.

Microbicidal compositions containing selected ratios of a non-halogenated 2-alkyl-3-isothiazolone and one or more (C -C ) esters of para-hydroxybenzoic acid are disclosed as improved formulations for controlling microbial growth. In particular the combination of 2-methyl-3-isothiazolone with a mixture of methyl para-hydroxybenzoate and propyl para-hydroxybenzoate is especially effective as a microbicidal component in personal care compositions.
