A method and apparatus for testing the functionality of a circuit design uses working system data that is recorded in real-time to stimulate and/or verify a software simulation of the circuit design that does not run in real-time. In a selected embodiment, a system for simulating and verifying a software model of a baseband module circuit design is described in connection with using real-time input and output data captured from a corresponding circuit in a reference platform. The captured real-time data may include digital baseband I/Q samples and/or extracted control data pertaining to the signal level, channel frequency, gain, output power, frequency offset, DC offset, or the like. The captured data may be regenerated for use as a stimulus for the software model of the circuit design and/or to verify the functionality of the design. Additional processing of the captured data can remove non-idealities that may be present in the reference platform, and can synchronize the regeneration of the captured data with the timing requirements of the non-real-time software model.

Data generation and collection from a real-time system for non-real-time software simulation

A system, method and computer-usable medium are disclosed for recovering data from a memory storage device. The operating system (OS) of an IPS comprising a source memory storage device, further comprising stored data, is monitored to detect a defective operating state. If a defective operating state of the OS is detected, then operation of the IPS is terminated, followed by the initiation of IPS boot operations to recover data from the source memory storage device. The OS is bypassed, and initial boot operations are performed from a management controller or from the BIOS of the IPS. Additional boot operations are performed, and once the IPS has been brought to an operative state, a data recovery module is used to transfer data from the source memory storage device to a target storage device.

A system and method are disclosed for managing the service connectivity of a mobile device to a plurality of connectivity services. A mobile device comprising a service connectivity manager accesses a repository of service connectivity management information. The service connectivity manager uses a first subset of the service connectivity management information to determine the connectivity services supported by a mobile device. A second subset of the service connectivity management information is then used by the service connectivity manager to determine the connectivity services supported by a predetermined network. The service connectivity manager then manages the service connectivity between the mobile device and the connectivity services supported by the predetermined network.

The memory may include a network access rule. A method for configuring a mobile device including a plurality of communication interfaces is provided. A first network configuration identifying communication networks accessible through the communication interfaces of the mobile device is identified. The first network configuration is compared to a plurality of previously encountered network configurations. A location of the mobile device associated with the first network configuration is designated responsive to the first network configuration being included in the plurality of previously encountered network configurations. Usage patterns of the communication interfaces at the designated location are tracked. Connectivity is established for the mobile device to a remote network through the communication interfaces based on the usage patterns.

A wireless communications device includes a host processing unit, a modem processing unit, and a memory transport interface. The wireless communications device typically runs a variety of software tasks, some of which require considerably more memory than others. By processing the memory intensive tasks with the host processing unit and assigning tasks requiring high computing power but relatively smaller memory to the modem processor unit, a smaller on-chip memory can be used for the modem processor unit tasks. In addition, by using a messaging transport interface to transfer data between tasks running on different processing units, smaller local memories can be used in place of a shared memory. For example, by allocating and storing L1 tasks at the modem processing unit and allocating/storing L2 and L3 tasks at the host processing unit, duplicate memory components may be reduced or removed, thereby lowering system costs and improving system efficiency.

A system and method are disclosed for managing the connectivity of a mobile device to a plurality of network connectivity locations. A mobile device comprising a network connectivity manager accesses a repository of predetermined network connectivity management information stored on a network host. The network connectivity manager uses a first predetermined subset of the information to discover the presence of a first network and then manages connectivity between the mobile device and the first discovered network. A second predetermined subset of information is then used to discover the presence of a second network. The network connectivity manager then transfers the mobile device's connectivity from the first network to the second network. Transfer of connectivity is dependent upon successful submission and acceptance of predetermined user credentials and each network's compliance with predetermined connectivity policies.

A system, method and program code are disclosed for the unattended monitoring, retrieval and storage of online content by a mobile information processing system operating in a low power mode. An intelligent wireless modem is activated when a mobile information processing system is operating in a low power state. The intelligent wireless modem detects the availability of a predetermined wireless network and establishes a connection. Predetermined online sites and services are then monitored by an unattended online content processor for the identification, retrieval, and subsequent storage of predetermined content. The stored content is subsequently retrieved and presented to the user for review and other operations when the mobile information processing system enters an initialization state.

A method for scheduling tasks for execution by a mobile device is provided. A connectivity prerequisite is defined for a task scheduled to be executed by the mobile device. Connectivity state information associated with the mobile device is received. The connectivity prerequisite is compared to the connectivity state information. The task is executed responsive to the connectivity state information satisfying the connectivity prerequisite.

The method includes establishing a communication channel between a first transceiver and a second transceiver in low power mode, and determining a training parameter using the communication channel. The method also includes performing training in response to determining the training parameter. The apparatus, capable of communicating with a transceiver, includes a first and second logic. The first logic is capable of establishing a communication channel with the transceiver in a low power mode. The second logic is capable determining a training parameter using the communication channel, and providing the training parameter to the transceiver.

A communications system includes a physical layer hardware unit and a processing unit. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to communicate data over a communications channel in accordance with assigned transmission parameters. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to receive an incoming signal over the communications channel and sample the incoming signal to generate a digital received signal. The processing unit is adapted to execute a software driver including program instructions adapted to extract control codes from the digital received signal, generate an authentication code, and transfer the control codes and the authentication code to the physical layer hardware unit. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to signal a security violation in response to the control codes being inconsistent with the authentication code. A method for identifying security violations in a transceiver includes receiving digital data over a communications channel; extracting control codes from the digital received signal; generating an authentication code; transferring the control codes and the authentication code to a physical layer hardware unit of the transceiver; configuring assigned transmission parameters of the physical layer hardware unit based on the control codes; and signaling a security violation in response to the control codes being inconsistent with the authentication code.

A method and apparatus for preventing radio communication system access by an unauthorized modem. The apparatus comprises a signal detector that determines if an authorization signal has been received from the base station within a specified period of time. The authorization signal authorizes the apparatus to communicate with the base station. A transmitter transmits information to the base station, and a controller disables the transmitter of the apparatus providing that the authorization signal has not been received within the specified period of time.

A computer system includes a peripheral device and a processing unit. The processing unit is adapted to execute a driver for interfacing with the peripheral device in a standard mode of operation and an authentication agent in a privileged mode of operation, wherein the authentication agent includes program instructions adapted to authenticate the driver. The peripheral device may comprise a communications device, such as a software modem. A method for identifying security violations in a computer system includes executing a driver in a standard processing mode of a processing unit; transitioning the processing unit into a privileged processing mode; and authenticating the driver in the privileged processing mode. The driver may be adapted for interfacing with a communications peripheral device, such as a software modem.

A communications system includes a physical layer hardware unit and a processing unit. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to communicate data over a communications channel. The physical layer hardware unit is adapted to receive unencrypted control codes and encrypted user data over the communications channel and transmit an upstream data signal over the communications channel based on the control codes. The processing unit is adapted to execute a software driver for interfacing with the physical layer hardware unit. The software driver includes program instructions for implementing a protocol layer to decrypt the user data and provide the upstream data to the physical layer hardware unit. A method for configuring a transceiver includes receiving unencrypted control codes over a communications channel; receiving encrypted user data over the communications channel; and transmitting an upstream signal over the communications channel based on transmission assignments defined by the control codes.

A system and method for converting information stored on a magnetic medium to DVD format. A tape transport mechanism may sample information stored on a magnetic medium at a selected rate where the selected rate is correlated to an available buffer size in a data processing system. The rate at which information is sampled may be less than the NTSC standard of 30 frames/second thereby requiring less storage to store the digital video representation. The sampled information may be captured and converted into a digital format. The digitized magnetic waveform may be transferred to the data processing system configured to convert the digitized magnetic signals into digitized television waveforms to recover the analog and video content. The digitized television waveforms may then be converted into a digital video representation. The digitized information may then be temporarily stored in the available buffer prior to being compressed and converted into DVD format.
