A mold apparatus used in injection molding of liquid silicone composition. The mold apparatus is made of several components aiding in the overall process. The mold apparatus has two main sections, a cold section to prevent the liquid silicone from curing and a heated section for curing the liquid silicone. The two sections are separated by a thermal insulating plate. The metering of the flow is achieved by an actuator providing linear movement of a valve pin position in the center of the flow path of the runnerless nozzle resting against a gate orifice. The runnerless nozzle is keep cooled with an annular heat pipe surrounding the body of the runnerless nozzle and circulating a liquid coolant at one end of the runnerless nozzle. The cavity block receive heat from an heating element incorporated in the cavity back plate. Heat is evenly distributed in the cavity block by vaporization.

Mold apparatus for use in injection molding of a liquid silicone composition

A actuator assembly for a runnerless injection molding system. The actuator assembly is disposed in injection mold top clamp plate and incorporates a hollow actuator shaft whereby the valve pin passes trough the hollow actuator shaft and is firmly attached to the hollow actuator shaft providing easy access to the valve pin for maintenance. The top clamp plate incorporates openings providing access to actuator assembly. Actuator assembly incorporates a mechanism for attaching valve pin to hollow actuator shaft. The hollow actuator shaft can be activated, hydraulically, pneumatically or electrically in a linear movement providing a gate shut off valve.

Apparatus and method for checking the venting of a mold having one or more vents, the apparatus comprising a vacuum source, a flow connection between the source and the mold, and a vacuum gauge connected to the flow connection, whereby vacuum measurement by the gauge correlates with total effective venting area of the mold.

Apparatus and method for checking mold vent condition

An injection molding apparatus includes a first, rear-mounted nozzle that is coupled to a manifold for receiving a melt stream therefrom. A second, front-mounted nozzle is coupled to the first nozzle by a nozzle link that is provided between the first and second nozzles. A plurality of gate seals are coupled to a forward end of the second nozzle. The gate seals receive melt from a plurality of melt passages and deliver the melt to a plurality of mold cavities through respective gates. The second nozzle is slidably removable from the first nozzle via the nozzle link to facilitate repair or replacement of the gate seals.

Front-mountable injection molding nozzle

The present invention provides an injection molding nozzle having a nozzle tip. The nozzle tip includes a body portion and a tip portion that extends from a forward end of the body portion. The tip and/or body portions may include at least one planar surface area on an outer surface thereof. The tip and/or body portions may also be provided with a convex and/or concave outer surface area. The geometry of the nozzle tip is such that it maximizes an outer surface area in order to increase the nozzle tip's heat conductance.
