The invention provides low temperature thermally activatable water-dispersed adhesive compositions and adhesives made from the compositions by removing water. The adhesive compositions of the invention comprise a mixture of low modulus crystallizing polyester polyurethane, acrylic ester copolymer, one or more hydrophobically-modified associative polyurethanes, and a stabilizer system comprising a combination of carbodiimide and branched primary amino alcohol.

Low temperature thermally activated water-dispersed adhesive compositions

The invention provides stabilizer systems for scavenging acid, minimizing hydrolysis, or both in polymer systems. The invention comprises a combination selected from the group consisting of: branched primary amino alcohol and carbodiimide; branched primary amino alcohol and dihydroxy metal compound; carbodiimide and dihydroxy metal compound; carbodiimide, branched primary amino alcohol, and magnesium oxide; branched primary amino alcohol and magnesium oxide; carbodiimide and magnesium oxide; and a combination of branched primary amino alcohol, carbodiimide, and dihydroxy metal compound.

Water-dispersed polymer stabilizer

The invention provides water-dispersed adhesive compositions comprising a high modulus crystallizing polyester polyurethane, a polychloroprene, acrylic ester copolymer, a resin selected from the group consisting of thermosetting resins, thermoplastic resins, and a combinations thereof and a stabilizer system. The invention also provides adhesive made from the above adhesive compositions.

The adhesive of this invention comprises of a combination of an anionic sulfonated polyester urethane dispersion, an acrylic/vinyl polyester urethane dispersion, a non-sulfonated polyester urethane dispersion, solvents and a rheology modifier combination capable of producing a cobweb type pattern while maintaining a uniform dispersion of the aforementioned materials.

Waterbased thermoforming adhesives

The invention relates to adhesive compositions comprising zwitterionic copolymers, including repulpable adhesive compositions, and adhesive tapes made with such compositions. The adhesive compositions comprise a zwitterionic copolymer and a zwitterionic plasticizer or tackifier which can be coated on a backing to form an adhesive tape. The repulpable tapes are formed from a repulpable adhesive composition comprising a zwitterionic copolymer coated on a repulpable backing. Examples of zwitterionic copolymers are those derived from the monomers N-(3-sulphopropyl)-N-methacryloxy-ethyl-N,N-dimethyl ammonium betaine or N-(3-sulphopropyl)-N-acryloxy-ethyl-N, N-dimethyl ammonium betaine. Some of the zwitterionic copolymers are novel.

The invention relates to adhesive compositions, preferably those for pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes, comprising an adhesive polymer and, as tackifier or plasticizer, a zwitterionic compound.
