Corrosion resistant alloys in fluid ends to prolong the life of a well service pump. Methods of using such corrosion resistant alloys that provide a fluid end that has a corrosion resistant alloy having a fatigue limit greater than or equal to the tensile stress on the fluid end at maximum working pressure in the fluid end for an aqueous-based fluid; installing the fluid end in a well service pump; and pumping the aqueous-based fluid through the fluid end.

A method for testing tubing having the following steps: plastically deforming the tubing with a tubing handling system, the tubing handling system having a reel, a gooseneck and an injector; sensing with at least one sensor acoustic emissions emitted by the tubing during the deforming; and processing acoustic emission signals sensed from the tubing during the deforming. A system for testing a coiled tubing, the system having: a tubing handling system, the tubing handling system having a reel, a gooseneck and an injector; at least one acoustic emission sensor mounted on the tubing handling system and in direct contact with the tubing; and an acoustic emission signal processor in signal transmission communication with the at least one acoustic emission sensor.

Acoustic emission inspection of coiled tubing

To test coiled tubing, at least one test is performed on a coiled tubing that has been used, such as in an oil or gas well. Performing such test includes obtaining a specific output data event (e.g., a nondestructive evaluation test readout) for the used coiled tubing. The specific output data event is compared with a predetermined sequence of output data events (e.g., a collection of data defining a 'lifeline' for the coiled tubing) for determining where the sequence and the specific output data event correspond. A coiled tubing status indication is generated in response to where the specific output data event corresponds with the sequence as a measure of a point in the useful life of the used coiled tubing.
