A preform configured to form a container by stretch blow molding. A finish portion is at a first end of the preform, and is a container finish. A tip portion is at a second end of the preform opposite to the first end, and is configured to form a container base and a container heel. The shoulder portion is adjacent to the finish portion and is between the finish portion and the tip portion. The shoulder portion is configured to form a container shoulder. The body portion is between the shoulder portion and the tip portion, and is configured to form a container body. The outer surface includes a first flat portion and a second flat portion at the tip portion. The first flat portion extends at a first angle and the second flat portion extends at a second angle that is different than the first angle.

Preform design for lightweight container

A preform configured to form a container by stretch blow molding. A finish portion is at a first end of the preform, and is a container finish. A tip portion is at a second end of the preform opposite to the first end, and is configured to form a container base and a container heel. The shoulder portion is adjacent to the finish portion and is between the finish portion and the tip portion. The shoulder portion is configured to form a container shoulder. The body portion is between the shoulder portion and the tip portion, and is configured to form a container body. The outer surface includes a flat portion at the tip portion.

A container having a hydrogen generator and catalyst disposed or otherwise incorporated in components of the container. The container further comprises a system for providing at least a portion of the hydrogen generator and/or catalyst in an area defined within the closure of the container for improved performance.

Oxygen scavenging system for a container

A plastic container including an upper portion, a base, a plurality of surface features, and a substantially cylindrical portion. The upper portion has a mouth defining an opening into the container. The base is movable to accommodate vacuum forces generated within the container thereby decreasing the volume of the container. The plurality of surface features are included with the base and are configured to accommodate vacuum forces. The substantially cylindrical portion extends between the upper portion and the base.

Hot-fill container

A polyethylene terephthalate container having a hydrogen generator and catalyst disposed or otherwise incorporated in components of the container, including the closure, closure insert, label, label glue, and/or any other portions of the final container assembly. In addition, the catalyst and the hydrogen generator can both be located in the same component. Methods for dispersing the hydrogen generator and catalyst in the container wall without affecting clarity are provided.

Container having oxygen scavenging system

A mold for forming a plastic container having an integrally formed standing ring. The mold includes a first mold portion and a second mold portion. The second mold portion is movable relative to the first mold portion. The first mold portion and the second mold portion together define at least in part a mold cavity for molding a plastic container. The first mold portion and the second mold portion together define a standing ring slot for forming a standing ring on a base portion of the plastic container. The standing ring slot is defined at an interface between the first mold portion and the second mold portion.

Controlled base flash forming a standing ring

A container including a finish, a sidewall portion, a base portion, and an inwardly directed rib member. The finish has a thread portion and an opening formed by the finish. The sidewall portion extends from the finish. The base portion extends from the sidewall portion and encloses the sidewall portion to form a volume for retaining a commodity. The inwardly directed rib member is disposed circumferentially about the finish.

Circumferential reinforcing groove for container finish

A plastic container has a base adapted for vacuum pressure absorption. The base portion includes a chime extending from a body portion to a contact ring which defines a surface upon which the container is supported. The base further includes a central portion defined in at least part by a pushup having a generally truncated cone shape in cross section located on a longitudinal axis of the container, and an inversion ring having a generally S shaped geometry in cross section and hinge means formed therein, and circumscribing the pushup. The truncated cone has an overall general diameter that is at most 30% of an overall general diameter of the base and a top surface generally parallel to a support surface.

Container base structure responsive to vacuum related forces

A container body and base being lightweight structures designed to accommodate vacuum forces either simultaneously or in sequence. The container body and base each absorb a significant percentage of the vacuum. By utilizing a lightweight base design to absorb a portion of the vacuum forces enables an overall light-weighting, design flexibility, and effective utilization of alternative vacuum absorbing capabilities on the container body.

Hot-fill container having vacuum accommodating base and cylindrical portions

An apparatus and method for simultaneously forming and filling a plastic container is provided. A mold cavity defines an internal surface and is adapted to accept a preform. A pressure source is a servo motor system that includes an inlet. The servo motor system is operable to draw liquid through the inlet and urge it into the preform. A blow nozzle may be adapted to receive the liquid from the pressure source and transfer the liquid at high pressure into the preform thereby urging the preform to expand toward the internal surface of the mold cavity and create a resultant container. The liquid remains within the container as an end product.

Liquid or hydraulic blow molding

A polyethylene terephthalate container having a hydrogen generator and catalyst disposed or otherwise incorporated in components of the container. The container further comprises an activation system or means for activating the hydrogen generator and/or catalyst system at a predetermined time or in response to a predetermined stimulus.

Container having an oxygen scavenging activation system

A closure includes a plastic shell having a generally flat base wall, a peripheral skirt for mounting the closure on a container neck finish and an annular portion integrally connecting the skirt to the periphery of the base wall. A flexible resilient sealing liner is disposed on at least an inner surface of the annular portion. The annular portion has an inverted V-shape with an outer leg integrally connected to the skirt and an inner leg integrally connected to the periphery of the base wall such that the base wall is disposed axially beneath the annular connection between the inner and outer legs. The inner leg is resiliently flexible with respect to the outer leg upon engagement with an end of a container neck finish so as to flex the inner leg and the base wall outwardly with respect to the skirt and thereby draw the outer leg into engagement with an outer surface of the container neck finish. The inner leg of the annular V-shaped portion preferably is conical, and in exemplary embodiments of the disclosure the outer leg preferably either is cylindrical or is conical preferably at an angle equal and opposite to the conical inner leg.
