This invention is related to a mechanism for use in a rocker recliner chair that reduces the complexity and links of typical linkage mechanisms. The rocker recliner chair includes a base, a rocker cam assembly mounted on the base, a seat, a footrest, a backrest and a pair of linkage mechanisms mounted on opposite sides of the chair. Each of the linkage mechanisms includes a recliner mechanism, a drive mechanism, and a footrest mechanism. The recliner mechanism is coupled to the base. The drive mechanism includes an ottoman drive bell crank and an ottoman drive link. The ottoman drive bell crank is coupled to a rear portion of the recliner mechanism. The ottoman drive link couples the ottoman drive bell crank to the footrest mechanism. The footrest mechanism is connected to the recliner mechanism by a footrest extension linkage. The footrest extension linkage serves to unlock the footrest mechanism thereby allowing the weight of the user, along with the drive mechanism, to move the chair from the chair position to the recliner position.

Recliner drive mechanism for a rocker chair

This invention is related to a mechanism for use in motion furniture that reduces the complexity and links of typical linkage mechanisms. The mechanism has a base plate and a footrest mechanism. The mechanism also includes a seat support link coupled to the footrest mechanism and front and rear pivot links rotatably coupled to the seat support link and slidably and rotatably coupled to the base plate. An ottoman drive link is slidably and rotatably coupled to an intermediate portion of the front pivot link and rotatably coupled to an intermediate portion rear pivot link. A primary ottoman link couples the ottoman drive link and the footrest mechanism. The primary ottoman link is rotatably coupled to the seat support link at an intermediate portion, so that the primary ottoman link and the ottoman drive link cooperate to move footrest mechanism between a closed chair position and an open recliner position. A backrest linkage couples the seat support link to the base plate, so that the backrest linkage cooperates to move the recliner mechanism between the open recliner position and the fully-reclined position.

Linkage mechanism for use in motion furniture

A mechanism for use in motion furniture that reduces the complexity and links of typical linkage mechanisms. The mechanism has a base plate and a footrest mechanism. The mechanism also includes a seat support link coupled to the footrest mechanism and front and rear pivot links rotatably coupled to the seat support link and slidably and rotatably coupled to the base plate. An ottoman drive link is slidably and rotatably coupled to an intermediate portion of the front pivot link and rotatably coupled to an intermediate portion rear pivot link. A primary ottoman link couples the ottoman drive link and the footrest mechanism. The primary ottoman link is rotatably coupled to the seat support link at an intermediate portion, so that the primary ottoman link and the ottoman drive link cooperate to move footrest mechanism between a closed chair position and an open recliner position. A backrest linkage couples the seat support link to the base plate, so that the backrest linkage cooperates to move the recliner mechanism between the open recliner position and the fully-reclined position.

A reclining furniture item including a reclining mechanism employing a roller and track system which significantly reduce the number of linkages and provide a zero or near zero wall proximity feature. Various embodiments are contemplated which include a moveable seat link mounted on rollers which move along angled track sections. These rollers form the major connection made between the moveable seat link and the stationary base member. At least one of the tracks is formed with two angled sections. The first angled section is sloped downwardly from rear to front and the second section is sloped upwardly from rear to front. Backrest linkage is also provided for allowing angling of the backrest with respect to the seat during reclining movement. Footrest linkage is connected to the front of the mechanism for extension and retraction in moving between a fully upright and a reclined T.V. position.

Three-way reclining furniture item

A hardware assembly for mounting a retractable ottoman on a seating unit frame below the front edge of an occupant support cushion. The assembly includes a frame bracket having a plate and an underlip, the frame and underlip each carrying a flange, the flanges are generally perpendicular to the plate and together carry a first pivot and a second pivot positioned below and rearward of the first pivot. The assembly also includes an ottoman bracket having a pair of pivots. A lazy tong linkage connects the brackets and locks in a horizontal extended position. The assembly may be optionally spring driven to facilitate deployment of an ottoman on the ottoman bracket.

Seating furniture ottoman

A modular furniture seating section having a pair of side rails that define a base for the section and a pair of reclining mechanisms, one mounted on each of the side rails. Each of the mechanisms includes a seat mounting link which together carry a seat frame that in turn carries the seat of the chair. An ottoman linkage is mounted on the front of the seat mounting link in each mechanism and together they carry the ottoman which moves between retracted and extended positions. The mechanisms also include a backrest linkage which carries the backrest frame that, in turn, carries the backrest. On one side only of the chair an arm panel is secured to the seat frame and moves together with the seat in fixed relationship thereto as the chair moves between upright and reclined positions. On the same side as the arm panel, a backrest side wing is mounted on the backrest frame so as to move with it. The arm panel and backrest wing are disposed on the side of the chair section which forms an end of a modular furniture grouping.
