Various embodiments of inter-medium bridging are described. In one aspect, a method may involve a plurality of inter-domain bridging devices transmitting a message that describes inter-domain routing capability of the inter-domain bridging devices to a respective domain master of each of a plurality domains to which the inter-domain bridging devices are connected. The method may also involve the plurality of domain masters exchanging messages that describe the inter-domain routing capability of the plurality of inter-domain bridging devices connected to the respective domain of each domain master. The method may further involve each domain master determining one of the domain masters to serve as a global domain master for calculating inter-domain routing paths.

Inter-medium bridging with inter-domain routing and multi-medium domain coordination

Various embodiments of inter-medium bridging are provided. In one aspect, a method may involve an inter-medium bridging device bridging between a plurality of mediums of a network connected to the first inter-medium bridging device at the Data Link Layer of the Open Systems Interconnection (OSI) model. The plurality of mediums may comprise at least a first medium and a second medium that comprise separate communications channels. The method may also involve the inter-medium bridging device facilitating communications between an external device and the network through an application interface of the first inter-medium bridging device.

An electrical outlet system for includes a female electrical outlet that is electrically coupled to a power source. The female electrical outlet has a pair of contacts. An adapter is removably coupled to the female electrical outlet and the adapter is positioned in each of the contacts. A plug is provided that has a pair of terminals. Each of the terminals is inserted through the adapter such that each of the terminals is electrically coupled to an associated one of the contacts. The adapter inhibits the terminals from falling out of the contacts.

Method and system for reducing volatile DRAM power budget

The framer, also referred to as the scrambler/Reed-Solomon encoder (SRS), is a part of the transmitter and accepts user and control data in the form of one or more logical channels, partitions this data into frames, adds error correction codes, randomizes the data through a scrambler, and multiplexes logical channels into a single data stream. The multiplexed data is then passed to the constellation encoder as the next step in the formation of the VDSL symbol. The deframer, also referred as the descrambler/Reed-Solomon decoder (DRS), is part of the receiver and performs the inverse function of the framer. Disclosed is a highly configurable hardware framer/deframer that includes a digital signal processor interface configured to provide high level control, a FIFO coupled to data interfaces, a scrambler and CRC generator, a Reed-Solomon encoder, an interleaver, a data interface coupled to a constellation encoder, a data interface coupled to a constellation decoder, a deinterleaver, a Reed-Solomon decoder, descrambler and CRC check, an interface to external data sync, methods for control of configuration of data paths between hardware blocks, and methods for control and configuration of the individual hardware blocks in a manner that provides compliance with VDSL and many related standards.

Multiple channel digital subscriber line framer/deframer system and method

A method for storage for complex numbers that employs a shared exponent field is disclosed. Rather than each floating point component of an complex number having its own distinct signed mantissa and exponent fields, each component includes a distinct signed mantissa field and shares an exponent field, thereby increasing the possible size of each distinct signed mantissa field by as much as one half the number of bits formerly employed to store a single distinct exponent field.

Method for representing complex numbers in a communication system

In a method, system and apparatus for management of dynamic memory in battery-powered devices, information is stored in dynamic memory, such as SDRAM chips. Chip partitioning minimizes the number of chips requiring power, minimum refresh rates reduce the power needed to maintain information, and a threshold for determining when to power down a battery powered device are used to maximize battery life.

Multicarrier transceiver

A Fourier transform architecture and system for FFT and IFFT processing within multicarrier transceiver is disclosed that includes a programmable butterfly component, a memory and a programmable address generation unit. The architecture includes a butterfly component configured to perform a plurality of radix butterfly calculations, and a four bank memory configured to operate on sample data. The architecture further includes a programmable address generation unit coupled to the pipeline to enable the architecture to perform calculations independent of Fourier-based algorithms. A method for addressing memory banks for an FFT pipeline includes expressing an index in radix notation, computing a bank address for a bank memory, converting the bank address to a reduced size by ignoring one or more bits, and calculating the bank address within the reduced memory bank.

Method and system for reducing volatile memory DRAM power budget

A wall-mounted container capable of storing in bulk both liquid and powdered forms of standard laundry products, such as detergents, bleaches and fabric softeners. The container has a wide opening at the top for receiving fluid laundry products. The top may be closed with a tight fitting lid which may also serve as a stand to support a cup for receiving the dispensed products. The bottom of the container is a funnel shape to allow the fluid contents to flow downwards into a valve located at the apex of the funnel. A standard ball valve with a wide aperture is capable of passing both liquid and powdered materials while preventing any leakage when closed.
