Airbag module coupling interfaces, assemblies, and related methods. Some embodiments may comprise one or more springs each defining a perimeter comprising at least three sides, wherein a first side of which may extend opposite a second side and may be at least partially angled towards the second side at an acute angle. A third side of the spring may connect the first and second sides. A spring mounting structure may be provided and may comprise a guiding interface for coupling the spring to the steering wheel. An opening in the guiding interface may be configured to receive a coupling prong, which may be configured to engage the third side of the spring.

Driver airbag module coupling assemblies

Driver airbag cushion assemblies comprising dampening means. In some embodiments, the assembly may comprise a driver airbag module, a steering wheel armature, and an intermediate plate positioned between the driver airbag module and the steering wheel armature. The assembly may further comprise one or more horn actuators, such as horn springs coupled to the airbag module, and one or more dampening members. The one or more dampening members may be used to couple two or more of the armature, plate, and airbag module together. In some embodiments, the dampening member(s) may be functionally and/or physically decoupled from the one or more horn actuators.

Dampening driver airbag assemblies and related systems and methods

An inflatable airbag system can be configured to be mounted to a frontal region of a vehicle. The inflatable airbag system includes an airbag and a positioning member, and is configured to deploy in various configurations in response to frontal and oblique collision events and based on an impact angle and a rotational angle of the steering wheel.

Frontal airbag systems for oblique crash protection

A vibration attenuation apparatus may include a mass element, a bracket, and an elastomeric member. The mass element may include a first aperture. The bracket may include first and second portions. The first portion may be attached to a structure that transmits an input vibration. The elastomeric member may engage the mass element and the second portion of the bracket and may suspend the mass element relative to the bracket. The elastomeric member may include a shaft portion and a barb portion. The shaft portion may engage the second portion of the bracket. The barb portion may engage the first aperture of the mass element. The elastomeric member may include properties allowing the mass element to move relative to the bracket in response to the input vibration at a frequency that reduces an amplitude of the input vibration.

Mass-damper system

An assembly for attaching an emblem onto the front face of an airbag storage enclosure cover has a plurality of attachment posts that project from the back surface of the emblem and extend through the cover from the front face to terminate in free ends remote from the emblem. An attachment backing sheet is positioned against the rear face of the cover, whereby the attachment posts also extend through the attachment backing sheet with the free end of each positioned on the side of the attachment backing sheet opposite from the cover. A plurality of radially-enlarged attachment nuggets are formed or joined individually in a one-to-one association to the free end of the attachment posts, and each of the attachment nuggets is secured to the backing sheet in proximity to the associated attachment post. The attachment backing sheet thus tethers each of the attachment nuggets to the cover in the event of the mechanical failure of an associated attachment post. The attachment nuggets may be integrally formed with or bonded to the free ends of the attachment posts. If the attachment backing sheet is made of a porous material, such as a fabric, a mesh, or a screen, the material of the attachment nuggets permeates pores in the material of the attachment backing sheet in proximity to each associated attachment post. If the attachment backing sheet is made of a plastic material, the attachment nuggets are bonded with adhesive to the attachment backing sheet.

Assembly for attaching an emblem onto an airbag storage compartment cover

An tear seam in a cover of an airbag includes multiple, non-intersecting slits defined in a fabric of the cover that may be woven with weft yarns oriented generally parallel to a longitudinal axis and warp yarns oriented generally transverse thereto. The multiple slits are diagonal with respect to the longitudinal axis and include end portions. The end portions of substantially all adjacent slits mutually overlap, to weaken the strength of the fabric along the tear seam.
