A coin acceptor for use in accepting coins, paper currency, tokens, or magnetic cards includes a multi-state visual display for indicating the condition of the coin acceptor or an attached device. The coin acceptor finds application in connection with gambling devices including video poker games and slot machines, as well as with vending machines, arcade games, automated teller machines, and other similarly actuated devices and machines. In a preferred embodiment, the coin acceptor finds application in connection with a progressive jackpot component for a live casino table game and includes a visual display having three different states. In a first state, corresponding to jackpot wager attract or invitation, a plurality of LEDs surrounding a token slot flash sequentially to form a traveling pattern around the slot. In a second state, corresponding to jackpot wager placement, the LEDs flash simultaneously. In a third state, corresponding to jackpot wager acceptance, the LEDs remain continuously illuminated.

Coin acceptor including multi-state visual indicator apparatus and method

A roulette game including a progressive jackpot includes a plurality of coin acceptors to enable players to place an optional progressive jackpot wager. Players place game wagers on a numbered layout imprinted on a table surface by using different colored chips assigned to each player. A control system includes an optical sensor head for detecting the speed and position of the ball in the roulette wheel, as well as the number of revolutions of the wheel. The control system displays on an electronic sign a progressive jackpot amount, winning numbers, and a random bonus jackpot. Players win the progressive jackpot by betting on the same winning number four times in a row. The electronic control system of the game, in conjunction with a dealer console, maintains an accounting of wagers placed, winning numbers, and amounts paid. The apparatus also includes a sound system for generating various sound effects at different stages of the game to enhance player excitement and appeal. A motorized chip conveyer assembly disposed beneath the table surface forms a chip return track underlying the coin acceptors for the purpose of returning chips or tokens placed as jackpot wagers to the dealer.

Ashtray

A smokeless ashtray system includes a vacuum manifold connecting a plurality of ashtrays to a charcoal filter and a vacuum blower/motor assembly. The vacuum manifold includes spiral wound metal flexible metal tubing segments secured to connectors by heat shrink tubing. L connectors connect end most ashtray locations to the manifold, T connectors connect intermediate ashtray locations, and a four-way connector connects a central ashtray location to the manifold and to the charcoal filter and blower/motor assembly. Each ashtray location includes a flue member having a first end threaded into the associated connector and a second end inserted within a recess formed centrally in a bottom surface of a cup-shaped ashtray. A connector mounting bracket includes locating apertures engaging alignment pins extending from a flat upper surface of the connector, and a flange on the flue member clamps the bracket to the connector. Screws secure mounting flanges of the bracket to the underside of a table or other mounting surface. A central chimney in the ashtray includes a shield dome covering an open top end to prevent ashes and other debris from entering the air flow path. A replaceable disposable coalescing filter element in the flue member filters smoke prior to passage into the manifold, thus substantially reducing tar fouling of the system. A control box includes an on/off switch, a power on LED, and a service needed LED activated by monitoring load on the motor to indicate filter clogging.
