System and method provide wireless distributed lighting control systems implementing a secure peer-to-peer, self-organizing and self-healing mesh network of actuators and system inputs. The system and method can be designed specifically for indoor and outdoor lighting where actuators include in-fixture, on-fixture and circuit control modules with ON/OFF and full range dimming capabilities, and system inputs include occupancy/vacancy sensors, daylight sensors and switches. A unique messaging protocol facilitates wireless and wired communication between actuators and system inputs, and provides web-based commissioning and monitoring of the lighting control system using a wireless access point accessible from a local network or Internet which can provide an intuitive and easy to use Graphical User Interface (GUI).

The system includes a room controller having a microprocessor for accessing data and providing commands, memory for storing information operably connected to the microprocessor, a relay for powering a load based on commands from the microprocessor, and a port for connecting a peripheral device. The system also includes a peripheral device connected to the port and configured to send data including a device type and a device instance byte to the controller indicating the type of peripheral device. The device instance byte includes a port number identifying the port and a slot number identifying a time slot within a time domain multiplexing cycle. The system also includes a load connected to the relay.

The method further including, in response to determining that the second light intensity exceeds the expected light intensity, determining, via the controller, an artificial light intensity, determining, via the controller, the drive signal based on a desired light intensity for the zone of the room, the artificial light intensity, the first light intensity, and the second light intensity, and controlling, via the controller, the driver to provide the drive signal to the LED array.

Systems and methods for daylight harvesting

An emergency lighting system including a light source, a variable constant current drive, an emergency alarm, and a controller. The light source includes a first light channel that produces light at a first correlated color temperature and a second light channel that produces light at a second correlated color temperature that is less than the first correlated color temperature. The variable constant current drive is configured to supply DC current to the first light channel and the second light channel. The emergency alarm is configured to be triggered upon detecting the presence of an emergency condition. The controller is configured to determine whether the emergency alarm is triggered, increase the DC current supplied to the first light channel when the emergency alarm is not triggered, and decrease the DC current supplied to the first light channel when the emergency alarm is triggered.

An image-based motion-occupancy sensor uses digital signal processing (DSP) techniques to perform algorithms on image data to enable an energy-delivery system, such as a lighting control system, to learn various environmental conditions that would conventionally result in false motion-occupancy detection. Motion of Interest (MOI) is determined by iteratively performing these algorithms and effectively filtering image data associated with non-MOI and making control decisions based only on relevant MOI.
