A nut assembly and a holddown assembly using the nut assembly are described, including methods of manufacture and assembly. The nut assembly may include a body portion having first and second openings with an internal wall extending between them. A rotation-inhibiting wall may be included between the first and second openings. A nut portion configured to move axially within the internal wall of the body portion includes structures for co-acting with a rotation-inhibiting wall to limit or prevent rotation of the body portion and the nut portion relative to each other. A nut portion and a body portion extending around the nut portion have limited axial movement relative to each other due to axial engagement between adjacent surfaces on the nut portion and the body portion.

Hold down assemblies and methods

A nut plate assembly and a method for securing a nut plate assembly may include a support for a fastener element wherein the support has a base to be supported and/or fixed on a support surface and the base has another surface against which the fastener element bears. The base also supports a structure for supporting the fastener element where the structure is at least partly non-symmetrical about a plane other than a horizontal plane parallel to the base. One side of the base may be secured to the support surface and the other side of the base may have the fastener element bearing against it when a complementary fastener element is secured to the first fastener element.

Apparatus and methods for securing a fastener

Methods relating to and apparatus such as floating nut plates may include complementary surfaces limiting movement of a retainer toward or away from side walls of a receiver, such as wherein a nut element is positioned between the retainer and the receiver. One of the complementary surfaces may be a groove formed in the retainer. In one configuration, the receiver and/or retainer are non-metal.

Fasteners such as clip nut fasteners can include a clip having a nut cage and a nut supported by the nut cage. The nut cage can have a wall supporting a portion of the nut wherein the wall can flex toward and away from the nut. The nut can have projections or other discontinuities for engaging bearing surfaces in the nut cage, for limiting rotation of the nut when under torque.

Apparatus and methods for fastening a panel or other components

Fasteners, fastener components and fastener receptacles, including quarter-turn fasteners may use a receptacle body having a non-metal material and one or more fastener engagement structures that together define a non-circular passage in the body. Underneath the fastener engagement structures, one or more support structures extend inwardly under the corresponding fastener engagement structures for supporting the underside of the fastener engagement structures. The support structures can have a concave configuration relative to an axis of the body. Additionally, a support structure can be co-extensive with the corresponding fastener engagement structure.

Fasteners, fastener components and fastener receptacles

A clip nut is provided having a plastic body holding captive a nut. The body includes two aligned arms projecting from an aft section, each arm defining an aperture at a forward portion of the arm. The nut includes a base and a upstanding portion extending from the base that defines an internally threaded bore. The body further includes a nut cage positioned disposed about the aperture of the first arm. The nut cage includes an upper wall spaced above the first arm that defines a slot having a narrowed inlet and a recess aligned with the apertures of the first and second arms. The body is configured to readily and securely receive the nut. To insert the nut into the cage, the nut is forced against the nut cage such that the upstanding portion presses into and past the narrowed inlet. In this manner, the cage yieldably receives the nut without undue manipulation of either piece.
