Disclosed is an ink jet ink composition having reduced ink buildup on the printer nozzle plate. The ink jet ink composition comprises a non-conductive solvent, one or more binder resins that are soluble in the non-conductive solvent, and a colorant soluble in the non-conductive solvent. Also disclosed is a method of printing on statically charged substrates. The ink jet ink composition provides one or more advantages: reduced ink buildup on the printer nozzle, reduced down time or cleaning time, and improved print quality.

High electrical resistivity ink jet ink composition

Disclosed is an ink jet ink composition suitable for printing on substrates holding high static electrical charges such as polyethylene and PVC films and tubes. The ink jet ink composition comprises an organic solvent having a boiling point greater than 56&#xb0; C., a binder resin soluble in the organic solvent, a colorant soluble in the organic solvent, and a polyvinylbutyral resin. Also disclosed is a method of printing images on such plastic substrates and a method for reducing microsatellite formation during ink jet printing. The ink jet ink composition provides improved print quality and reduced need for cleaning the nozzle.

Ink jet ink composition and method for printing on substrates under conditions of high static electrical charge

Leakage in a heat exchanger between two liquids which are in indirect heat exchange relationship is detected by marking one of the two liquids with a colorless chemical marker and detecting it in the second liquid by extraction and conversion to a colored material. The heat exchanger liquids are preferably organic liquids which are immiscible with water. The marker is detected in a heat exchanger liquid by extraction of the marker followed by chemical conversion of the marker to a colored material that can be detected visually. Aminoalkylnaphthalenes are suitable markers which can be extracted by an acidic aqueous solution and converted to a colored material by reaction with a diazotized aromatic amine. Phenylazoalkylphenol derivatives are also suitable markers which can be extracted and simultaneously converted to a colored material with a detection reagent which is comprised of water and a water-soluble amine.

Leak detection using chemical markers

An exhaust gas emissions control system lowers cold-start hydrocarbon emissions by using heat exchange structure to lower the temperature of exhaust gas prior to the exhaust gas passing through a hydrocarbon adsorbent and using the extracted heat to heat a catalytic converter to its light-off temperature. In some embodiments, multi-component hydrocarbon adsorbers effective under different operating conditions further reduce cold-start hydrocarbon emissions.
