A surgical tool includes a body defining an opening sized and configured to receive a first bone portion therein, a displacement tip coupled to a first end of the body, the displacement tip sized and configured for insertion into a medullary canal of a second bone portion, and a deployable retention block configured to be transitioned from a first position to a second position. The deployable retention block is configured to maintain the first bone portion in a predetermined position when the deployable retention block is in the second position.

In one aspect, an implant configured to attach a first bone section to a second bone section comprises an intramedullary portion and an extramedullary portion. The intramedullary portion is configured for insertion into the first bone section. The extramedullary portion is configured to abut a surface of the second bone section and includes a first fastener aperture configured to receive a bone fastener inserted in the second bone section. The intramedullary portion and the extramedullary portion are coupled such that the extramedullary portion is rotatable with respect to the intramedullary portion.

A method of ankle replacement includes forming an anterior cut in a bone and forming a stem hole in a distal end of the bone. The stem hole is formed using a plurality of broaches positioned against the distal end of the bone through the anterior cut. A first portion and a second portion of a stem implant are inserted into the stem hole through the anterior cut in the bone. The first portion is coupled to the second portion using a coupling device inserted through the anterior cut in the bone. The stem implant is impacted into the stem hole using an offset impactor.

An instrument for use in cartilage removal comprises an elongate body having a first end and a longitudinal axis having a longitudinal direction. A cartilage removal portion is coupled to the elongate body at the first end. A system includes an instrument and a distractor. The instrument includes a shaft extending from a first end to a second end and defining a first axis between the first end and the second end. The instrument further includes a first gear coupled to the first end of the shaft. The instrument further includes a second gear enmeshed with the first gear. The instrument further includes a reamer coupled to the second gear. Rotation of the shaft about the first axis causes rotation of the reamer about a second axis that is non-parallel with the first axis. The distractor includes a first arm defining a first passage and a second arm defining a second passage, each configured to receive a pin. The distractor further includes a retainer configured to engage the instrument to retain the instrument in position. The distance between the first passage and the second passage is adjustable.

Geared instrument for minimally invasive surgery

A partial ankle prosthesis includes a tibial component including a superior surface configured to be attached to a lower end of a patient's tibia; a poly component that is fixedly attached to the tibial component and includes a concave inferior surface of an anti-friction material; and a talar component including an inferior surface configured to be attached to a patient's talus and a single convex superior surface configured to mate with the inferior surface of the poly component; and the partial ankle prosthesis is configured to be implanted in a single compartment of a patient's ankle.

Unicompartmental ankle prosthesis

A mold for forming a prosthesis is disclosed. The mold can include a stem portion, a head portion, and a securement assembly. The stem portion and the head portion can be provided in a kit having a variety of different interior dimensions so that a user can select or customize a mold cavity size based on the dimensions of a particular implant site of a patient. While a set of stem portions and head portions can have interior dimensions of varying sizes, each of the stem portions and each of the head portions can have the same or similar exterior dimensions for attachment using a common securement structure. Related methods are also disclosed.

Spacer mold for orthopedic implants

A prosthetic mold for forming a prosthesis is disclosed. The prosthesis can include a bone mating surface, an articulating surface, and an intermedullary post. The prosthetic mold can include a first portion, a second portion engageable with the first portion, and an injection portion. The first portion can be configured to form the articulating surface. The second portion can be configured to form the bone mating surface and define an intermedullary post cavity. Engagement between the first and second portions can define a mold cavity. The injection port can be axially aligned, and in communication, with the intermedullary post cavity. The injection port can engage an injection assembly. In one embodiment, the prosthetic mold is configured to form a tibial prosthesis. In another embodiment, the prosthetic mold is configured to form a femoral prosthesis.

Spacer molds for orthopedic implants

System and methods are provided that include a plate member engageable to the spinal column with an anchor assembly. The anchor assembly includes a coupling member having a post extending through at least one opening of the plate member and an anchor member pivotally captured in a receiver member of the coupling member below a lower surface of the plate member. A locking member secures the plate member to the coupling member.

Spinal implants with multi-axial anchor assembly and methods

Systems and methods are provided that include a plate member engageable to the spinal column with an anchor assembly. The anchor assembly includes a coupling member having a post extending through at least one opening of the plate member and an anchor member pivotally captured in a receiver member of the coupling member below a lower surface of the plate member. A locking member secures the plate member to the coupling member. A crown in the receiver member of the coupling member is engaged by the plate member to secure the anchor member in position relative to the coupling member.

Multi-axial anchor assemblies for spinal implants and methods

A double-jointed bone bolt for use in an apparatus for maintaining vertebra in a desired relationship. The apparatus has a rod that extends substantially along the spine and one or more bone bolts. At least one of the bone bolts is double jointed. The double-jointed bolt has a mounting portion with a hook or coarse threads to engage a vertebra, and the mounting portion is attached to a pivot post in a manner that allows the pivot post to be rotatable about a common axis in respect to the mounting portion. The pivot post of the bone bolt is then pivotally attached to a connector portion of the bone bolt that has machine threads upon which a surgeon may attach a clamp. The clamp has a second bolt and an arm. The second bolt holds the rod and the arm to the clamp. The second bolt has a first channel to attach to the rod, while the arm has a second channel to attach the double-jointed bone bolt.
