A system is provided for automatically dispensing prescriptions according to a patient's order. The system includes at least one line of machines that can automatically fill a patient's prescription order with countable oral solid medication under the control of an appropriate control system. The system includes containers provided to store the oral solid medication. One or more medication-containing containers are detachably coupled to a vibratory dispenser according to a patient's order. The vibratory dispenser automatically vibrates the container to dispense a predetermined amount of medication from the container into a vial according to the patient's order. Labeling and capping apparatus may be provided to apply a patient-specific label to the vial and to apply a cap or closure to the vial. Vials containing medication according to the patient's order may be collected in accumulation receptacles prior to delivery to a patient.

Integrated automated drug dispenser method and apparatus

The vibratory dispenser,may further include at least a single drive unit for vibrating the canister,and a quick coupling mechanism for fixedly engaging the canister,A labeler,applies a patient specific label to the vial. Vials and unit of use drugs may be collected in accumulation receptacles,prior to delivery to a patient. The methods of the invention include a process for varying the vibrations of the canister,by the vibratory dispenser,in response to the amount of drug in the canister. A process for optimizing the storage location of a canister,based on drug use is also provided.

The present invention provides an improved cannula that can be used to reconstitute powdered drugs in a drug delivery system. Furthermore, the present invention provides a cannula and drug delivery system incorporating same. To this end, the present invention provides a cannula structure for use in a reconstitution device for reconstituting a powdered drug comprising a cannula having a first end and a second end, and defining a channel in an interior thereof between the first and second ends. The first end is closed and includes a member for piercing a septum. The cannula includes at least two slots providing fluid communication between the channel and an exterior of the cannula. The slots are located in juxtaposition to the first end and have a width, as measured along a length of the cannula, that is less than a length, as measured around the cannula. The slots also have a minimum projected area equal to or greater than the cross-sectional area of the channel.

Blood plasma is frozen in a sealed, flexible, collapsible container which defines an inlet at one end and a shoulder portion surrounding the inlet. The container tapers from the shoulder portion to a generally flat configuration at its end opposite the one end. After the freezing step, the shoulder portion is cut away from the container to define a cut end. Thereafter, the frozen plasma may be removed from the container in frozen form by squeezing the wall of the tapered container to expel the frozen plasma out of the cut end of the container.
