The disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods for a computer network comprising hosts accessible by directory users whose user identity information is maintained in a user information directory. The apparatus comprises at least one processor, and at least one memory for storing instructions that, when executed, cause the apparatus to manage information of configurations for attribute based filtering of access requests by the directory users for a plurality of hosts and separately from the user information directory.

Access control in a computer system

The disclosure relates to apparatuses and methods for managing authenticator information in a computerized system. An access request to a host comprising an authenticator is processed to cause searching in an authenticator management host for information corresponding to the authenticator and searching in a directory internal to the host for information corresponding to the authenticator. Modification of information corresponding to the authenticator can then be provided based on the searching.

Management of authenticator information in a computer system

Methods and apparatuses for authenticating data communications are disclosed. In a method an intermediate node between a sender device and a receiver device obtains an authenticator associated with the sender device. The intermediate node authenticates the sender device such that the intermediate node acts as the receiver device towards the sender device. The intermediate node is then authenticated to the receiver device such that the intermediate node uses the authenticator associated with the sender device for the authentication to transparently intervene data communications from the sender device to the receiver device.

Authenticating data communications

During garbage collection, writes to objects being copied (relocated) are monitored (tracked) using a write barrier that uses a thread-local write barrier buffer. In the preferred embodiment, soft synchronization is used for reading the thread-local write barrier buffers. In response to detecting a write to an object, the object may be re-copied, the copying may be made to fail, the write may be propagated to another copy of the object, or, e.g., another node in a distributed system may be notified of the write.
