A computer-implemented method estimates sleep quality of a user. A related computer system, a computer program product, and a data structure are also described. The method includes receiving measurement data measured by at least one sensor device during a time interval; detecting from the measurement data one or more restless sleep signal patterns indicating a restless sleep interval longer than a first threshold duration and computing a number of the detected one or more restless sleep signal patterns; detecting, from the measurement data, one or more continuous sleep intervals not including any one of the one or more restless sleep signal patterns within a time interval longer than a second threshold duration and computing a total length of the one or more continuous sleep intervals; computing a sleep quality metric as a function of the number of the detected one or more restless sleep signal patterns and the total length of the detected one or more continuous sleep intervals, wherein the sleep quality metric indicates a quality of the user's sleep during the time interval; and outputting the sleep quality metric.

Measuring and estimating sleep quality

A method, apparatus, and a computer program for monitoring a fitness exercise are described. A plurality of heart-rate variability values and a plurality of exertion parameter values are measured during an exercise measured. The heart rate variability values correlate with the exertion parameter values through a human physiological mechanism, and the exertion parameter values characterize the physical exertion of the exercise. A mathematical correspondence is then constructed from the plurality of measured heart rate variability values and associated exertion parameter values. The mathematical correspondence describes correlation between the heart rate variability values and the exertion parameter values and the user's physiological state during the exercise. Then, the physical exertion of the exercise is monitored by applying the mathematical correspondence.

Analyzing physiological state for fitness exercise

There is provided electronic device, comprising: a receiving unit configured to receive heart rate data generated by a heart rate measuring system; a calculation unit configured to calculate heart rate variation data on the basis of the received heart rate data. The electronic device further comprises: a processing unit configured to analyse the calculated heart rate variation data in comparison with the corresponding heart rate data, and to determine at least one threshold value for fat burning on the basis of the analysis.

Electronic device and method for determining a fat burning threshold using heart rate variability

A portable electronic device comprises a controller and a display. The controller receives vector data on a position of a user of the portable device from a satellite positioning sensor associated with the user, and scalar data on movement of the user from at least one motion sensor associated with the user. The controller stores data based on the vector data and feeds a scalar parameter proportional to the scalar data to the display. The display displays the scalar parameter.

Data transfer

The invention relates to a portable electronic device and computer software product. The portable electronic device comprises a motion detector for generating motion data characterizing the local movement of the portable electronic device, a motion intensity determiner for determining a instantaneous motion intensity value of the user of the portable electronic device from the motion data, and an active time counter for determining an active time accumulation that sums up the time periods, during which the instantaneous motion intensity value meets predefined activity criteria.
