A depuration process is employed for removing off-flavor contaminants from fish through an advanced oxidation process. Before the fish is harvested, the fish is transferred to a depuration tank or zone containing water. Off-flavor compounds leach from the tissue of the fish into the water in the depuration tank or zone. The water in the depuration tank or zone is circulated through an advanced oxidation reactor that, through an oxidation process, reduces the concentration of the off-flavor contaminants in the water.

Method and system for purging off-flavor compounds from farm-raised fish

A device and method are provided for enhancing the feeding response of larval fish to feedstock. A food distribution mechanism is positionable above the tank housing the larval fish and is adapted for receiving the feedstock therein. The food distribution mechanism selectively deposits portions of the feedstock into the tank. A light source is positionable adjacent the tank and selectively directs a laser beam at the tank. A controller is operatively connected to the food distribution mechanism and the light source. The controller is configured to actuate the food distribution mechanism for a time period at selected intervals such that the food distribution mechanism deposits a portion of the feedstock into the tank during each time period. In addition, the controller is configured to actuate the light source for at least a portion of each time period.

Device and method for enhancing the feeding response of larval fish

Described herein are methods of use of purified preen oil, food and feed compositions containing purified preen oil, food and feed additives containing purified preen oil, and pharmaceutical compositions containing purified preen oil. Methods include treatment of chronic joint inflammation in humans and animals by orally administering purified preen oil. Also included are methods of feeding a growing fish by feeding the feeding the growing fish purified preen oil in amounts effective to improve survival and/or stimulate growth in the growing fish. Further included are methods of feeding live prey organisms purified preen oil, and feeding the live prey organisms to growing fish.

Apparatus and method for treating aqueous solutions and contaminants therein

A system and method for removing fouling from a photoelectrocatalytic oxidation assembly is provided. The method includes resetting a first counter, increasing the first counter by a first channel increment value, and determining if the value in the first counter exceeds a value corresponding to the number of channels provided in the assembly. If the first counter does not exceed the number of channels, the polarity in a channel associated with the value in the first counter is reversed, and a first timer is reset. If an amount of time in the first timer does not exceed a first time period, the first timer is increased by a first time increment until the time remaining in the first timer exceeds the first time period and the polarity reversal is terminated, returning to the step of increasing the first counter by a first channel increment value.
