The present invention provides a compound of Formula (I):

A compound of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 represents a group of formula (A) where each of W, X, Y and Z and Z represents either a group CR or the nitrogen atom, provided that not more than two of W, X, Y and Z represent the nitrogen atom and where each R present is independently selected from hydrogen and halogen atoms and cyano, amino, hydrazino, acylamino, hydroxy, alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, haloalkoxy, alkenyl, alkenyloxy, alkoxyalkenyl, alkynyl, carboxylic acyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aryl and heterocyclyl groups, said groups comprising up to 6 carbon atoms, and wherein R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or cyano or a group selected from alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, aralkyl, heteroarylalkyl, alkenyl, aralkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkanesulfonyl, arenesulfonyl, alkanyloxycarbonyl, aralkyloxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, heterocyclylalkyl, carbamyl or dithiocarboxyl groups, said groups comprising from 1 to 15 carbon atoms, said groups being optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from, halogen, cyano, carboxyl, carboxylic acyl, carbamyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxy, alkylenedioxy, hydroxy, nitro, haloalkyl, alkyl, amino, acylamino, imidate and phosphonato groups; and acid addition salts and quaternary ammonium salts and N-oxides derived therefrom. The compounds are useful as insecticides.

Bicycle amine derivatives

The present invention concerns bicyclic amine derivatives of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is an optionally substituted 5-membered heterocyclic ring system containing from 1 to 3 heteroatoms individually selected from nitrogen, oxygen and sulfur atoms, and at least one unsaturation (double bond) between adjacent atoms in the ring, wherein the substutuents, if present, are selected from halogen atoms, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxy, haloalkyl, haloalkenyl, alkylthio and alkyl amino groups, any of which groups contain up to eight carbon atoms, and wherein two substituents may join to form a fused ring; R.sup.2 represents hydrogen or cyano or a group selected from alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, aralkyl, heteroarylalkyl, alkenyl, aralkenyl, alkynyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkanesulfonyl, arenesulfonyl, alkenyloxycarbonyl, aralkyloxycarbonyl, aryloxycarbonyl, heterocyclylalkyl, carbamyl, dithiocarboxyl or XR.sup.3 (where X represents oxygen or a group NR.sup.4), provided that when R.sup.2 is alkenyl, aralkenyl or alkynyl said group does not have an unsaturated carbon atom bonding directly to the ring nitrogen of formula (I); R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are, independently, hydrogen, alkyl, aryl, heteroaryl, aralkyl, heteroarylalkyl, alkenyl, aralkenyl, alkynyl, heterocyclylalkyl, alkoxycarbonyl or carboxylic acyl; alkyl moieties of R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 comprise from 1 to 15 carbon atoms, and are optionally substituted with one or more substituents selected from, halogen, cyano, carboxyl, carboxylic acyl, carbamyl, alkoxycarbonyl, alkoxy, alkylenedioxy, hydroxy, nitro, haloalkyl, alkyl, amino, acylamino, imidate and phosphonato groups; or an acid addition salt, quaternary ammonium salt or N-oxide derived therefrom; to processes for preparing them, to insecticidal compositions comprising them and to methods of using them to combat and control insect pests.

Disclosed is a novel photo-activatable derivative of ryanodine 9-hydroxy-21-(4-azidobenzoyloxy)-9-epiryanodine. This novel ryanodine derivative has been conjugated to keyhole limpet hemocyanin (KLH) and used for the production of antibodies with high affinity and specificity to ryanodine. A radioimmunoassay specific for ryanodine was developed using the anti-ryanodine antibodies, and a dissociation constant for ryanodine of 1 nM was determined. Also disclosed is the binding of a labeled, photoactivatable derivative of ryanodine (ABRy) with the ryanodine receptor of skeletal, cardiac and brain membranes. Digestion of the labeled ryanodine receptor revealed a labeled 76 kDa tryptic fragment which is critical for the formation of the high affinity ryanodine binding site.

Immunogenic ryanodine derivative and related uses

A method of killing or controlling unwanted plants by applying to the plant on to a locus thereof an effective amount of a compound of formula (I) ##STR1## or a salt thereof: wherein R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4 and R.sup.5 are independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxy, alkyl, alkoxy, alkylcarbonyl, halogen, cyans, nitro, haloalkyl and haloalkoxy; R.sup.6 is hydrogen, hydroxy, amino, lower alkyl, halogen, cyano, haloalkyl, nitro, aryl, or a group C(O).sub.m R.sup.10, wherein R.sup.10 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or phenyl any of which may be optionally substituted and m is 1 or 2; R.sup.7 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, haloalkyl, C(O).sub.m R.sup.10 or halogen; or R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 together form an optionally substituted alkylene chain of 2 or 3 carbon atoms; R.sup.8 is hydrogen, lower alkyl or halogen or the group R.sup.7 or R.sup.8 together form an oxo group; and the group CZR.sup.9 is carboxy or an ester thereof, or R.sup.9 is a group SR.sup.10 or NR.sup.11 R.sup.12 wherein R.sup.11 is hydrogen or alkyl and R.sup.12 is hydrogen, alkyl, S(O).sub.n R.sup.10 wherein n is 0, 1 or 2; or R.sup.9 is a group NR.sup.11 NR.sup.13 R.sup.14 wherein R.sup.11, R.sup.13 and R.sup.14 are independently selected from hydrogen or alkyl; or R.sup.9 is a group --N.sup..sym. R.sup.11 NR.sup.13 R.sup.14 R.sup.20 x.sup..crclbar. wherein R.sup.11, R.sup.13, R.sup.14 and R.sup.20 are each hydrogen or alkyl, and x.sup.- is an agricultrually acceptable anion, and Z is oxygen or sulphur. Herbicidal compositions containing compounds of formula (I) are also claimed together with certain novel sub groups of compounds of formula (I) and processes for their preparation.

Herbicidal compositions containing compounds of formula (I) are also claimed together with certain novel sub groups of compounds of formula (I) and processes for their preparation.
