A sock anchor unit () comprises an inner longitudinal hollow spine (), an outer fabric sleeve () arranged to envelop the outside surface of the inner hollow spine () such that a gap is defined between the outside surface of the inner hollow spine () and an inner surface of the outer fabric sleeve () and a plurality of elongated reinforcing members (), wherein each elongated reinforcing member () extends longitudinally within the gap. The inner hollow spine () comprises at least one substantially laterally extending opening from inside to outside of the inner hollow spine (). The opening allows cementitious fluid which is pumped into the anchor unit to fill the gap between the hollow spine () and outer fabric sleeve. A fastening member () is provided on each end of the sock anchor unit (). Both fastening members () are compatible with each other and each fastening member () is configured such that a trailing end of a first sock anchor unit () is attachable to a leading end of a second sock anchor unit () thereby facilitating creating a multiple piece sock anchor system of a desired length.

Sock anchor unit

An element protector control for protecting the electrically powered heating element of a kettle against overheating has primary and secondary (or back-up) modes of operation. The primary protection mode utilizes a dished, snap-acting bimetal which is oriented so that the side of the bimetal which is convex when the blade is cold faces the heating element head, and the bimetal is sprung against a flat rear surface of the element head so that the bimetal in its cold condition flattens against the element head. The bimetal determines the condition of a pair of switching contacts provided in the control. The bimetal is mounted in a carrier which is spring biassed towards the element head and, for providing the secondary protection mode, the carrier is formed of a thermoplastics material so that in the event of failure of the primary protection in an overtemperature situation so that the element temperature continues to rise, the carrier will collapse towards the element head, and the collapse of the carrier is arranged to disconnect the control from its power supply terminals.

Thermal control units

An electrical switch comprises a snap-acting actuator blade movable with a snap action between two configurations to control the making and breaking of electrical contacts and a latching mechanism which, when the actuator blade has snap-acted in one sense to break or make the contacts, prevents return movement of a movable contact carrying member until the latching mechanism has been positively released. The latching mechanism comprises a pivotal rigid member having an arm defining an engaging portion, for restraining return movement of the movable contact carrying member, and a biasing spring which urges the latching member in the movable contact carrying member engaging direction.
