An image forming system including: a reading unit configured to read, through a transparent member, an image on a first sheet conveyed by a conveyance unit; an opposed member provided opposite to the reading unit with respect to the transparent member, the first sheet passing through a gap between the opposed member and the transparent member; and at least one processor configured to control, based on the image read by the reading unit, a geometric characteristic of an image to be formed on a second sheet by an image forming portion, and control a changing unit to change the size of the gap to a first size when the thickness of the first sheet is a first thickness, and to a second size larger than the first size when the thickness of the first sheet is a second thickness larger than the first thickness.

An image reading apparatus includes first and second first conveyance rollers, transparent members, reading units, and opposing rollers, and includes a driving unit. The first reading unit reads an image on a sheet first surface through the first transparent member at a first reading position. The first opposing roller is opposed to the first transparent member at the first reading position. The second reading unit reads an image on a sheet second surface through the second transparent member at a second reading position. The second opposing roller is opposed to the second transparent member at the second reading position. The second conveyance roller is arranged where a sheet trailing edge passes through the first reading position while the second conveyance roller conveys the sheet. The driving unit drives the first opposing roller so that a first opposing roller circumferential speed is faster than a second conveyance roller circumferential speed.

An image reading apparatus includes a conveyance unit, a casing, a reading unit, a support shaft, a first cable, and a second cable. The reading unit includes a reading sensor configured to read an image of the sheet conveyed in the conveyance path through the transparent member. The support shaft supports the reading unit in a manner of moving in a moving direction orthogonal to a longitudinal direction of the reading unit. The first cable is connected to a first connecting portion disposed in the reading unit, the first cable being held by the reading unit on one side in the longitudinal direction with respect to the support shaft. An image reading apparatus includes a transparent member, a conveyance unit, a reading unit reading an image information through the transparent member from the sheet conveyed by the conveyance unit, and a guide member provided upstream of a reading position where the reading unit reads the image information from the sheet with respect to a sheet conveyance direction. The guide member includes a sheet-like sheet member having elasticity. A leading end of a downstream side of the guide member in the sheet conveyance direction is a folded portion formed by folding back the sheet member.
