A media apparatus includes a media bay having a media module slot. A security port is provided in the media bay adjacent the media module slot. A security fastener is provided in the media bay and is accessible via the security port. A security bar is movable between a first position wherein a first portion of the security bar opens the security port and exposes the security fastener, and a second position wherein the first portion closes the security port and conceals the security fastener. A lock plunger port is provided in the media bay adjacent a second portion of the security bar.

Secure media bay and media module

A device comprising a monitor and a monitor support stand. The monitor support is configured to hold the monitor in a plurality of fixed locations. The monitor support includes a spring, a spring counterweight balance, and a cam. The spring is configured to support a weight of the monitor. The spring counterweight balance is coupled to the spring, and is configured reduce a force required to adjust a tension of the spring. The cam is coupled to the spring counterweight balance, and has a plurality of positions, wherein each of the plurality of positions is configured to adjust a weight range of the monitor that the spring can support.

A base cabinet system is provided for a laptop computer, on which the laptop can be placed for expanded home-based use. A reinforced removable cover arches over the top of the base cabinet so that the laptop can be slid into position on top of the base cabinet and beneath the cover, and the monitor rested on the top of the cover; when one wishes to use the laptop display, the monitor and cover are easily removed to permit tilt-up of the laptop display. Special retaining means are provided to assure that the cover seats itself and remains in its proper installed position, and special guides are provided to assure that when the laptop is slid into position the connector on its rear side will mate properly with the corresponding connector on the base cabinet. A leveraged actuator system is provided so that an operator, by exerting a modest force on a manual actuator at the front of the system, can apply a multiplied force between base cabinet and laptop computer to disengage the laptop connector from the base cabinet connector.

Expansion base and system for portable computers

A docking base including an integral charger holder sized for receiving a notebook computer rechargeable battery is disclosed. The battery when positioned in the holder is electrically coupled to a power source for recharging the battery. The base further includes movable legs so that the keyboard of the notebook computer, when positioned on the base, can be either positioned horizontally or inclined as ergonomically desired by the individual users.
