This application provides a tunable optical add/drop multiplexer T-OADM. A beam adjustment apparatus changes an incident angle at which an incident beam is emitted onto an optical filter. After the optical filter splits the incident beam into a transmitted beam and a reflected beam, the beam adjustment apparatus further adjusts a transmission direction of the transmitted beam emergent from the optical filter and a transmission direction of the reflected beam emergent from the optical filter, so that the transmitted beam and the reflected beam are output to corresponding ports, so as to implement a flexible and controllable T-OADM apparatus. This application may be applied to the optical communication field, for example, may be used to implement add/drop multiplexing of tributary signals in an optical domain in fields such as a long-haul backbone and a metropolitan area network.

Tunable optical add/drop multiplexer

An electromagnetic wave control apparatus includes an upper electrode layer, a lower electrode layer, a liquid crystal layer, and a first metamaterial layer disposed between the upper electrode layer and the lower electrode layer. The first metamaterial layer includes a first array including alignment unit structures. A first surface of the alignment unit structure is a surface that is of the alignment unit structure and that faces away from the liquid crystal layer. A length-to-width ratio of the first surface of the alignment unit structure is greater than 1. A length of the first surface, a width of the first surface, and a spacing between two adjacent alignment unit structures range from 1 nm to 5000 nm.

Electromagnetic wave control apparatus

A method of wavelength selection and a communication apparatus is applied to fields such as optical communication, optical switching, digital central networks, microwave photonics, liquid crystal antennas, optical phased arrays, beam forming, beam scanning, laser radars, laser projection, laser televisions, holographic display, adaptive optics, laser beam shaping, laser processing, ultrafast laser pulse shaping, laser active imaging, optical tomography scanning, and retinal imaging. When port switching occurs in a WSS apparatus, only image data of a changed local image of an LCoS image is updated within each time interval that is shorter than duration of one image frame, and a driving voltage for a pixel on the LCoS display screen is refreshed based on a priority.

Method of wavelength selection and apparatus

The present disclosure provides example wavelength selective switch (WSS), wavefront control element, and integrated liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS). One example WSS includes an input port fiber array, a demultiplexing/multiplexing grating group, an output port fiber array, and a beam deflection component group including two beam deflection components and at least one wavefront control element located between the demultiplexing/multiplexing grating group and the beam deflection component group or integrated with the LCoS. At least one beam deflection component is a LCoS. The input port fiber array receives multi-wavelength optical signals. The demultiplexing/multiplexing grating group demultiplexes and outputs the multi-wavelength optical signals. The beam deflection component group deflects the multi-wavelength optical signals to the demultiplexing/multiplexing grating group. The demultiplexing/multiplexing grating group multiplexes the multi-wavelength optical signals to the output port fiber array. The wavefront control element and the LCoS jointly modulate optical signals transmitted through N*M wavelength channels.
