An object is to provide a production method that is a method for producing a spherical particle material by a melting method and that makes a melting spheroidization ratio higher than the conventional method. A production method for a spherical particle material of the present disclosure achieving the above object includes: a raw particle material preparation step of preparing a raw particle material composed of an inorganic material; and a spheroidization step of feeding the raw particle material into a high-temperature atmosphere to melt the raw particle material and then rapidly cooling the raw particle material to prepare a spherical particle material having a volume average particle diameter of 1 μm or more and less than 10 μm, and a powder compressibility evaluation FF value, by a powder rheometer, of the raw particle material is 2.0 or more.

Method for manufacturing spherical particle material

Provided is a ferrule polishing material suitable for polishing a ferrule. A ferrule polishing material of the present invention solving the above object includes a binder formed from a resin material and abrasive grains dispersed in the binder. The resin material is formed from an epoxy resin. The abrasive grains are contained in an amount of not less than 80% and not greater than 91% with respect to the sum of masses of the abrasive grains and the binder, include small-diameter particles being particles having a particle diameter of not greater than 100 nm, the small-diameter particles being present in an amount of not less than 62.5% and not greater than 80% with respect to the mass of the abrasive grains, and are formed from silica.

Ferrule polishing material

Provided is a filler that has a low viscosity when mixed in a resin material and has reduced permittivity and dielectric loss tangent. The filler includes: a metal oxide particle material; and a polyorganosiloxane compound with which a surface treatment is performed on the metal oxide particle material and which is represented by general formula (1): (RO)Si&#x2014;(SiR&#x2014;O&#x2014;)&#x2014;SiR(in general formula (1), each R is independently selected from among alkyl groups having 1 to 4 carbon atoms, and n is not less than 10 and not greater than 200). A resin composition obtained by containing the filler in a resin is suitable for an electronic material.

A particulate material is mainly composed of alumina, has a volume average particle diameter of from 70 to 200 &#x3bc;m, has a degree of sphericity of from 0.89 or more to less than 0.99, has a degree of alfa-aluminization of from 40 to 85%, and produces a result of 0.017 g or less in an abrasion test for equipment.
