A three-speed gearbox assembly for an electric drive module includes a housing, a first and second planetary gear set, and a first, second, third and fourth clutch. The first planetary gear set is configured to selectively connect to an output of an electric motor and includes a first sun gear, a first ring gear and a first planetary carrier. The second planetary gear set is rotationally coupled to an output of the first planetary gear set and includes a second sun gear, a second ring gear and a second planetary carrier. The first clutch selectively couples the first carrier to the housing. The second clutch selectively couples the first sun gear to the housing. The third clutch selectively couples the output of the electric motor to the first sun gear. The fourth clutch selectively couples the output of the electric motor to the first carrier.

Three speed gear reducer for electric drive module

An electric drive system for an electrified vehicle includes a driveline, a first axial flux motor, a second axial flux motor, a third axial flux motor and a differential. The third axial flux motor is disposed between the first and second axial flux motors. The third axial flux motor has a first output shaft that provides a first torque input to the first motor and a second output shaft that provides a second torque input to the second motor. The differential is disposed in the third axial flux motor. The differential provides selective speed differentiation between the first and second output shafts. Wheel reducers are arranged in drive wheels of the driveline. The wheel reducers can be exchanged based on vehicle application.

Tri-axial flux motors with in-wheel reducers

An electric drive module for an electrified vehicle includes first and second electric motors, first and second reduction assemblies and a driveline. The first electric motor has a first rotatable output. The second electric motor has a second rotatable output. The first electric motor has a lower output capacity than the second electric motor. The first reduction assembly is driven by the first rotatable output and includes a first reduction output that is coupled to the second electric motor. The second reduction assembly is driven by the second rotatable output of the second electric motor. The first reduction assembly and the second reduction assembly cooperate to provide a combined first effective reduction ratio driven by the first rotatable output and wherein the second reduction assembly provides a second effective reduction ratio driven by the second rotatable output, the first effective reduction ratio being higher than the second first effective reduction ratio.

Electrified vehicle propulsion system architecture that provides high performance without multispeed reducer

A transmission includes a housing defining an actuator cavity, a plurality of clutches disposed within the housing and configured to be engaged in various combinations to generate gear ratios corresponding to forward speeds of the transmission, and an actuator assembly configured to selectively engage one clutch of the plurality of clutches, the actuator assembly including a piston slidingly disposed within the actuator cavity. An anti-rotation assembly is configured to prevent rotation of the piston within the actuator cavity, the anti-rotation assembly including a stop and a projection. The projection is coupled to and extends outwardly from an interior surface of the piston, and the stop is grounded to the housing and includes a bore configured to receive a distal end of the projection to thereby prevent rotation of the projection and piston.

A gasket assembly for sealing between a first component and a second component, the first component having a main cavity separated from a secondary cavity by at least one wall, the at least one wall having an aperture formed therethrough, includes a device configured to extend through the aperture. An aperture sealing insert is molded around a portion of the device, the aperture sealing insert sized and shaped to fit into the aperture. An aperture seal is disposed about an outer perimeter surface of the aperture sealing insert, the aperture seal configured to seal against surfaces defining the aperture. A gasket baseplate is configured to be disposed over the aperture sealing insert between the first component and the second component to fluidly seal the main cavity from the secondary cavity while enabling the device to pass through the aperture.

A power-take off (PTO) system for a vehicle having a powertrain comprising an engine and a hybrid electric transmission includes a PTO device configured to provide power to an accessory load of the vehicle, a housing for a gear clutch of the transmission, the housing being formed of steel, needle bearings for the gear clutch, and a gear defined by or attached to an outer surface of the housing, wherein at least one electric motor of the transmission is configured to drive the PTO device via the gear clutch and the gear while the engine is disconnected from the transmission or is shut off.

Electric power take-off on a hybrid electric transmission

A modular hybrid transmission configurable between a 9-speed configuration and an 8-speed configuration includes first, second, third, and fourth planetary gear sets each having first, second, and third elements. Seven torque transmitting devices are each selectively engageable to interconnect one of the first, second, and third elements of one of the planetary gear sets directly with (i) one of the first, second, and third elements of another one of the planetary gear sets, (ii) a housing, or (iii) an input member. The seven torque transmitting devices are selectively engageable to establish nine forward speed ratios and at least one reverse speed ratio. Upon removal of a fourth torque transmitting device, the transmission is arranged in the 8-speed configuration and the remaining six torque transmitting devices are selectively engageable to establish eight forward speed ratios and at least one reverse speed ratio.

Modular motor vehicle hybrid transmission convertible between six, eight, and nine speeds

A transmission includes input and output shafts, a hybrid module coupled to the input shaft and a gearbox coupled to the module and output shaft. The hybrid module includes a first electric motor under driven by a gearset; a second electric motor coupled to a module output, a disconnect clutch coupled to the gearset and selectively to the input shaft; and a launch clutch coupled to the disconnect clutch and selectively to the module output. The gearbox includes three gearsets and five torque transmitting devices operable to generate six forward speeds. One torque transmitting device is a clutch brake applied with a piston that reaches over a park gear, and one is a selectable one way clutch. Two of the torque transmitting devices are radially stacked rotating clutches. The transmission includes and/or facilitates an engine only mode, an electric only mode, a hybrid mode and a battery charging mode.
