The present disclosure relates to a method performed by an IP capable network node in a communication network. The method comprises receiving an IP message from an IP capable device, said IP message comprising an indication that the IP capable device requires a VM to be set up. The method also comprises sending an initiation message to a cloud service platform requesting the cloud service platform to set up the VM for the IP capable device. The method also comprises receiving a service information message from the cloud service platform comprising information about the VM set up by the cloud service platform. The method also comprises sending an IP message to the IP capable device comprising information about the VM set up for said device, allowing the device to send IP data to the VM.

Creating a virtual machine for an IP device using information requested from a lookup service

A method, control node, gateway and computer programs in a communications network for enabling communication with a newly detected device connected to the network. The method comprises receiving a request message including an id associated with the newly detected device from a gateway, and retrieving configuration data associated with the device based on the id, from a device vendor database, where the device vendor database is indicated by the id. The method further comprises providing a resource in the communications network based on the configuration data, acknowledging the request message to the gateway, thereby enabling the device to communicate with the resource in the communications network.

Method, control node, gateway and computer program for enabling communication with a newly detected device

A method and system for flow mobility filter rule verification is provided. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a network node of a telecommunications packet network is configured to receive filter rules provided by a user entity (UE) relating to a requested IP-CAN session. The filter rules are applied by a Policy and Charging Control (PCC) network architecture for the session. The network node is also configured to compare received filter rules with Inter-Mobility Policies (IMPs) of the user in order to determine if the filter rules match with the user's IMPs, and to send a filter rule verification response indicating whether or not the filter rules match the user's IMPs.

Flow mobility filter rule verification

A method of making data, published on a first publication/subscribe (pubsub) network, available to hosts within a second publication/subscribe network where the networks are interconnected via the Internet. The method comprises registering a publication identity of said data within a rendezvous system located within the Internet, forwarding Subscribe requests associated with said publication identity from said second network to said rendezvous system and, at the rendezvous system, identifying a location of said data within said first network. The Subscribe request can then be forwarded to said first network, and said data delivered from said first network to said second network via the Internet.

Publish/subscribe networks

A user network (e.g., mobile phone) is described herein that uses one or more access systems to establish a communications session with a remote communications network. In one embodiment, the user network has a processor and a memory with instructions stored therein which are accessible and processable by the processor to facilitate the following steps: (a) maintaining a detected set which contains access resource (s) that are associated with possible access connection (s) which could be used to access the remote communications network; (b) maintaining a candidate set which contains access resource (s) and logical connection (s) that are associated with the possible access connection (s) which could be used as communication bearer (s) to the remote communications network; and (c) maintaining an active set which contains a particular logical connection which is associated with one of the access connections that is currently being used as a communication bearer in an established communication session with the remote communications network.

User network and method for using multiple access system to connect to remote communication network(s)

The invention provides methods method for access selection in a Multi-Access Network offering a plurality of Access Technologies (AT). The device may comprises a Multi Access Management entity (MAM) and a plurality of Generic Link Layer Entities (GLL) associated to a plurality of Accesses (A) according to said plurality of Access Technologies (AT). The access selection comprises an Access determination and an Access configuration. In a first step a Generic Link Layer Entity (GLL) determines one or more Generic Performance Metrics (GPM) corresponding to one or more configurations of the Access (A). The Generic Link Layer Entity (GLL) sends the determined one or more Generic Performance Metrics (GPM) corresponding to one or more configurations of the access (A) to the Multi Access Management entity (MAM). The Multi Access Management entity (MAM) determines from received Generic Performance Metrics (GPM), which Access (A) offers a configuration (GPM), which is suited for an application/bearer requirements. Then, said Multi Access Management entity (MAM) sends the determined configuration to the Generic Link Layer Entity (GLL) associated to the determined Access (A). The determined Generic Link Layer Entity (GLL) configures the Access (A) based on the determined configuration received from the Multi Access Management entity (MAM). Furthermore, the invention relates to corresponding devices, modules and software.

Generic access performance abstraction for access selection

A method of generating network identifiers for use by mobile routers of a moving network is provided which enables fast and efficient routing loop avoidance and detection. The method comprises receiving at a mobile router of a sub-network chain, a beacon from a preceding mobile router in the chain, the beacon containing a network identifier of the preceding mobile router, generating a new network identifier by applying a pre-defined function to the received network identifier, and including the new network identifier in beacons broadcast by the receiving mobile router. When preparing for a handover, a mobile router compares the network identifier contained in a received beacon with values generated by applying said function against its own network identifier. This allows the mobile router to identify beacons originating from mobile routers that are downstream in the same chain.

Loop-detection in moving networks

The present invention relates to a method, device, instruction set, and signal for communicating the availability of additional information in access points relevant for determining in a mobile station which access point to connect to. An information tag is inserted into a beacon signal alerting of the additional information available; mobile stations not implemented with the present invention may operate as if the information tag was not present and thus ensuring compatibility between systems.

Extending WLAN signalling

A method of providing packet routing information comprises: encoding routing information from a source node to one or more destination nodes into a compact representation of set membership; and putting the compact representation of sets into a header of a packet that is to be sent from the source node to the destination node(s). The compact representation may be obtained by: generating d representations of a set of identifiers; generating d candidate compact representations of set membership from the d representations of the identifiers; and selecting one of the candidate compact representation of set membership. The selection may be made on the basis of which of the candidate compact representations has the lowest rate of returning false positives.

Packet forwarding in a network

The present invention relates to communications systems comprising multiple access technologies, and more especially it relates to access technology allocation of communications in such communications systems. Particularly, it relates to allocation of a plurality of communication flows to one or more of a plurality of access technologies avail able in the communications system. Access selection based upon stored one or more preference values is disclosed.

Method and apparatus for access selection in a multiaccess communications system

The invention deals with managing handovers between access networks in a packet data communication environment. According to the invention, the possibility to control access network resources will improve by having a mobility manager node () managing such handovers. The mobility manager node will decide to handover a mobile node () from a first access network () to a second access network () based on received information relevant to the handover process. After the decision, the mobility manager node will instruct a home agent () or similar node to register a new care-of address or other locator of the mobile node's point of attachment, which is valid in the second access network and which can be used for contacting the mobile node in the second access network. The mobility manager node will thereafter instruct the mobile node to de-attach from the first network and attach to the second network. The invention will be especially advantageous for mobile operators managing a communication environment with heterogeneous networks, such as WLAN and WCDMA networks.
