A method of making a medical device includes: obtaining an assembly having a tubular structure, a polymeric tube, and a stretched rod, wherein the stretched rod is inside a lumen of the polymeric tube, and wherein the polymeric tube is between the tubular structure and the stretched rod; and expanding the stretched rod to urge the polymeric tube radially outward towards an inner surface of the tubular structure.

A method of forming a fenestrated tubular support member includes determining a first iso-stiffness curve corresponding to a first function of beam length versus ring width for the first stiffness; determining a second iso-stiffness curve corresponding to a second function of beam length versus ring width for the second stiffness; determining an iso-volume curve corresponding to a third function of beam length versus ring width for a given fenestration volume; identifying a first intersection point where the iso-volume curve intersects the first iso-stiffness curve; and identifying a second intersection point where the iso-volume curve intersects the second iso-stiffness curve. The first section ring width and first section beam length are determined from the first intersection point, and the second section ring width and second section beam length are determined from the second intersection point.

A multilayer stent configured for implantation in a body lumen, including a tubular outer layer comprising a first plurality of struts defining an outer layer mesh pattern extending between first and second ends of the outer layer, and a tubular inner layer comprising a second plurality of struts defining an inner layer mesh pattern extending between first and second ends of the inner layer. The inner-layer is at least partially disposed within the outer layer, wherein at least a portion of the inner layer is attached to, or integrally formed with, at least a portion of the outer layer.

Multilayer stent

A tubular support member located in a distal portion of an elongate flexible medical device is provided with a plurality of wall openings, e.g., axially-spaced, substantially transverse slots, formed therein to thereby increase a flexibility of the support member. A layer of sealing material overlays an outer surface the support member so as to provide a sealed portion of the support member including the wall openings, the sealing material having respective flexible invaginations formed therein overlaying the wall openings in the support member so that the sealing material does not substantially impede flexibility of the support member.

Coated tubular support members and methods of manufacturing same

A device, system and method for diagnosing and treating gastric disorders is provided. A submucosal gastric implant device is placed within the submucosal layer of a patient's stomach wall. The device in one embodiment provides electrical stimulation of the stomach wall and may use multiple electrode pairs for sequential stimulation. The device may also have other functional aspects such as a sensor for sensing various parameters of the stomach or stomach environment, or a therapeutic delivery device. The implant may be programmed to respond to sensed information or signals. The device may be modular with a portion of the device accessible outside the stomach wall for removal and replacement. An endoscopic delivery system prepares and delivers the functional device through the esophagus and into the stomach where it is placed through an opening in the mucosa into the submucosal layer of the stomach wall. The endoscopic instruments may be used to prepare a cavity in the submucosal layer of the stomach wall and deliver the device to the prepared cavity and if appropriate close the opening in the mucosa.

Submucosal gastric implant device and method

A stent configured for implantation in a body lumen includes a plurality of radially expandable circumferential segments, and an axially expandable connecting member connecting adjacent circumferential segments of the plurality. The stent has a relaxed, axially contracted configuration in which the connecting member is contracted axially and each circumferential segment is nested with at least one adjacent circumferential segment. The stent also has a delivery, axially expanded configuration in which the connecting member is expanded axially, and an axial distance between adjacent circumferential segments of the plurality is greater than when the stent is in its relaxed configuration.

Stent and method of use

A device and method for mapping, diagnosing and treating the intestinal tract is provided using a capsule passing through the intestinal tract. Further, a capsule tracking system is provided for tracking a capsule's location along the length of an intestinal tract as various treatment and/or sensing modalities are employed. In one variation, an acoustic signal is used to determine the location of the capsule. A map of sensed information may be derived from the pass of a capsule. Capsules may be subsequently passed through to treat the intestinal tract at a determined location along its length. One variation uses an electrical stimulation capsule to treat and/or diagnose a condition in the intestinal tract.

System for marking a location for treatment within the gastrointestinal tract

A flexible structural apparatus which may be used as a wound covering which extends above the wound such that the wound covering does not contact the wound and also protects the wound from contact. The apparatus provides a high degree of flexibility while retaining structural strength and resisting collapse, for example, so as to adequately protect the wound. Various embodiments include parallel beams and connections between beams that alternate in location along the beams to provide flexibility. Some embodiments may be used as springs and may have attachment features, such as holes, which may be located at the end beams, for example.

Medical devices and methods for making and using the same are disclosed. An example medical device may include a guidewire. The guidewire may include a core wire having a distal portion. A tubular member may be disposed over the distal portion. The tubular member may have a plurality of slots formed therein. The tubular member may have a distal section with a heat transfer region and a heat sink region. A solder tip member may be attached to the tubular member. The solder tip member may include a portion extending through the heat transfer region of the tubular member to the heat sink region.

Tubular members may be chamfered or tapered continuously or incrementally. Slots may be arranged in groups, such as groups of three, and may be equal in depth or unequal in depth to provide a steerable or compressible tip.
