The present invention provides a learning management system that is embedded in an application, operating system, or multiple applications. The learning management system is adapted to identify whether training courses would be desirable for a user, based on usage of one or more applications, installment of one or more applications, or occurrence of one or more key words within an application.

A called party's communications habits are determined from the party's communications history, and the habits and the called party's current state (presence) are analyzed in view of a calling party's parameters for a desired communication with the called party to determine a preferable mode and/or time for the desired communication. The preference is indicated to the calling party to assist the calling party in effecting the desired communication.

The present invention provides a method, device, and system for taking voice memos during a communication session. More specifically, voice memos may be taken using the same communication device that is used in the communication session. This can be accomplished by automatically muting the communication device and establishing a communication channel with another endpoint, such as a recording endpoint, to record audio signals transmitted by the communication device.

The present invention provides for the ranking of messages for presentation to a user based on user behavior with respect to previous messages received from ranked communication endpoints. In particular, the percentage of a message played back by a user can be used to assigned a rank for future messages received from the initiating communication endpoint associated with the subject message. Initiating communication endpoints associated with messages that the user has listened to all or a large proportion of are associated with a relatively high ranking that is applied to future messages from those communication endpoints. Initiating communication endpoints associated with messages that the user listens to only the message header or a small proportion of the message itself are assigned a relatively low ranking. Messages received as textual communications or by a unified messaging application may be ranked according to the order in which the user selects the messages for retrieval.
