The present invention comprises a linear array of LEDs which can be utilized in conjunction with a product display case wherein the linear array of LEDs is operatively mounted upon, and disposed immediately adjacent to, a first end edge portion of a glass plate so as to effectively illuminate the glass plate by means of total internal reflection principles whereby the glass plate operatively serves as a light pipe such that the light emitted from a second opposite end edge portion of the glass light pipe can illuminate the interior portion of the product display case. Alternatively, the linear array of LED lights can be operatively mounted upon, and disposed immediately adjacent to, an edge portion of a glass shelf disposed within the product display case so as to likewise illuminate the glass shelf itself by means of total internal reflection principles whereby the illumination from the glass shelf serves to illuminate the products being displayed.

Product display case or hot plate display case having an edge-mounted LED array for illuminating a light pipe for illuminating the interior portion of the product display case or hot plate display case, and/or an edge mounted LED array for illuminating a glass shelf within the product display case or hot plate display case

An example method is provided and includes receiving, from a host device, a first signal over a two-wire bus to an address on the two-wire bus corresponding to a small form factor (XFP) module, the host device being located outside the XFP module, the two-wire bus coupling the host device with a first controller inside the XFP module and a second controller inside the XFP module that share the address such that the first controller and the second controller receive the first signal, and blocking a second signal from the second controller to the host device using digital isolation buffers. A third signal from the first controller to the host device over the two-wire bus is not blocked. In specific embodiments, the first controller includes a XFP compliant controller and the second controller includes an optical controller.

System and method for monitoring two-wire communication in a network environment

An example method is provided and includes receiving a first signal transmitted to an address on a two-wire bus from a master device, where the two-wire bus couples the master device with a first slave and a second slave that share the address such that the first slave and the second slave receive the first signal. The method includes blocking a second signal from the second slave to the master device using digital isolation buffers. In particular embodiments, the digital isolation buffers are configured between the master device and the second slave. In addition, the two-wire bus may include a clock line and a data line. The digital isolation buffers may include a first digital isolation buffer located on the clock line between the master device and the second slave, and a second digital isolation buffer located on the data line between the master device and the second slave.
