The application relates to oral care compositions comprising substantive polyesters formed from xylitol, polycarboxylic acids (or esters, acid halides or anhydrides thereof) and optionally arginine. The formed polyesters or polyesteramides are active in biofilm inhibition and dissolution to maintain clean teeth.

Oral care compositions

The application relates to oral care compositions comprising substantive polyesteramides formed from polyols, polycarboxylic acids (or esters, anhydrides or halides thereof) and arginine. The formed polyesteramides are active in biofilm inhibition, biofilm dissolution and retarding or preventing acid production from oral bacteria.

The present application relates to oligomeric antimicrobial compounds and compositions comprising the same. The oligomers are formed by polymerizing aminoalkyl(meth)acrylate or aminoalkyl(meth)acrylamide monomer(s). In addition to imparting materials with broad spectrum antimicrobial activity, the oligomers can impart antimicrobial activity to substrates such as hair and skin.

Perfluoroalkyl-substituted amines, acids, amino acids and thioether acid compounds containing a perfluoroalkyl-iodoalkyl or perfluoroalkyl-alkene group as well as derivatives thereof, are described. These diols can react with isocyanates to form urethanes; diisocyanates to form polyturethanes; chloroformates to form carbonates; with carboxylic, sulfuric or phosphoric acids or derivatives to form carboxylate esters, sulfate esters, phosphate esters respectively. Di-, tri- and poly-perfluoroalkyl-substituted alcohols and acids and derivatives thereof are described which are prepared from perfluoroalkyl iodides and di-, tri- or polyallyl alcohols or acids. A novel process is described for reacting a perfluoroalkyl iodide with an olefinic compound, which comprises carrying out a free-radical addition reaction of the perfluoroalkyl iodide to the olefin in the presence of azoic or peroxy initiator and a water-soluble salt selected from the group consisting of sulfites, bisulfites, metabisulfites and dithionites. The adducts are obtained in high yield and purity and are useful for the preparation of oil- and water repellent products for use on paper, textiles, metal, wood and the like, or as precursors for fluorinated surfactants.
