A fluid flow sampling device comprises an elongate housing and a sleeve disposed in the housing having openings corresponding to an inlet and an outlet of the housing. The sleeve is movable relative to the housing to an open position and a closed position. The open position aligns the openings of the sleeve with the inlet and the outlet to allow fluid to flow into the inlet, through the sleeve, and out of the outlet. The closed position blocks the inlet and/or the outlet with a portion of the sleeve such that fluid is prevented from flowing through the sleeve. Additionally, a coalescent filter is disposed in the sleeve between the inlet and the outlet to allow some fluid to pass through the filter for sampling and to allow another portion of fluid to flow past the filter and out of the outlet to carry away coalescent material on the filter.

Fluid flow sampling device

A fluid flow sampling device comprises a housing and a sleeve disposed in the housing having openings corresponding to an inlet and an outlet of the housing. The sleeve is movable relative to the housing to an open position and a closed position. The open position aligns the openings of the sleeve with the inlet and the outlet to allow fluid to flow into the inlet, through the sleeve, and out of the outlet. The closed position blocks the inlet and/or the outlet with a portion of the sleeve such that fluid is prevented from flowing through the sleeve. A coalescent filter is disposed in the sleeve between the inlet and the outlet to allow some fluid to pass through the filter for sampling and to allow another portion of fluid to flow past the filter and out of the outlet to carry away coalescent material on the filter. Additionally, a sample outlet port facilitates removal of fluid from the sampling device for sampling.

The present invention is drawn generally to an improved electrochemical sensor. The reference cell within the sensor can be a salt bridge comprising at least two chambers for containing an electrolyte fluid, preferably containing a semipermeable plug impregnated with an electrolyte, an essentially fluid impermeable plug for separating the at least two chambers, and a narrow opening through the plug providing a non-axial flow path for ionic communication between the at least two chambers when the electrolyte fluid is present.

A thermoelectric cooler for cooling a sample of hot, continuously flowing gas involves a mechanical heat flow path passing from the flowing gas through a heat-exchanging tube channeling the gas, a heat-conductive block housing the tube, a thermoelectric element having a cold side abutting the block, a heat sink abutting a hot side of the thermoelectric element, and cooling air streams passing through slots in the heat sink. The heat sink is a unibody, jointless metallic body having relatively thin fins defining the slots. A high pressure blower drives turbulent air streams through the slots of the heat sink, and a thermal switch is disposed on the heat sink near the hot side of the thermoelectric element.
