The present invention provides a driving circuit and a display device. The driving circuit is disposed on a substrate of the display device. The driving circuit includes thin film transistors (TFTs), a capacitor and clock signal lines. Each of the TFTs includes a gate, a source and a drain. The capacitor is coupled to at least one of the TFTs, and includes a first and a second electrode. The material of the first and the second electrode includes a transparent conductive material. The clock signal lines extend along a first direction. The source and the drain of at least two of the TFTs respectively extend along a second direction. The angle between the first direction and the second direction is between 80 degrees and 100 degrees. At least a partial structure of the capacitor is located in a gap between adjacent ones of the TFTs.

Driving circuit and display device with enhanced moisture prevention capability

A shift register and a display device are provided. The shift register includes a pre-charge unit, a pull-up unit, a first pull-down unit and a second pull-down unit. The pre-charge unit receives first and second input signals, and outputs a pre-charge signal via a first node. The pull-up unit receives the pre-charge signal and a clock signal, and outputs a scanning signal via a second node. The first pull-down unit receives the pre-charge signal, first and second pull-down control signals, and controls whether to pull-down the scanning signal to a reference voltage level. The second pull-down unit receives the pre-charge signal and first and second pull-down control signals, and controls whether to keep the scanning signal at the reference voltage level. The period of the first second pull-down control signal and the period of the second pull-down control signal are in a range from 12 frames to 180 frames.

Shift register and display device

A display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided. The display device includes a first substrate, a second substrate and a light curable sealant. The first substrate has a displaying area and a non-displaying area, in which the displaying area includes a pixel array, and the non-displaying area includes a driving circuit. The driving circuit includes at least a capacitor which is made of transparent conductive material. The second substrate has an opaque area. The light curable sealant is located between the first substrate and the second substrate. When viewing from a normal vector of the first substrate or the second substrate, the light curable sealant, the capacitor and the opaque area are at least partially overlapped with each other.

Display device and method for manufacturing the same

Fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display (FFS LCD) devices are disclosed. A first substrate is disposed opposing a second substrate with a gap therebetween. A liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and the second substrate. A gate line and data lines are formed on the first substrate in a matrix configuration and defining pixel areas. A counter electrode is disposed on each pixel area of the first substrate. A pixel electrode is disposed above the counter electrode with an insulating layer therebetween. The pixel electrode includes a plurality of parallel electrodes. Each electrode includes a first segment, a second segment, and a third segment, wherein the first segment has an included angle &#x3b8; from the horizontal direction, the second segment has an included angle &#x3c6; from the horizontal direction, and the first segment has an included angle &#x3b8; from the horizontal direction.

A liquid crystal display is provided. A liquid crystal display includes a first substrate having color filters therewith; a second substrate having plural first signal lines and plural second signal lines thereon; plural first openings located at intersections of said first signal lines and plural of second signal lines; and plural supports located at said plural first openings and between said first substrate and said second substrate, and separating said first substrate from said second substrate.

Spacing architecture for liquid crystal display and spacing method thereof

A liquid crystal display (LCD) substrate and a fabrication method thereof are provided. The LCD substrate comprises a substrate, a spacer definition layer formed on the substrate comprising a first step, and a spacer formed along a profile of the first step of spacer definition layer and adjacent to the first step, thereby forming a second step on the spacer. The invention utilizes a single photolithographic process to form spacers with steps, thus, effectively lowering the probability of mura defects caused by gravity, contact, or an uneven cell gap.

Liquid crystal display substrate and fabrication method thereof

The screen of a liquid crystal display is first divided into a compensation portion, a compensation transition portion and a non-compensation portion in a sequence arranged along the scanning line. Then storage capacitor areas of the pixels in the non-compensation portion are made equal, whereas the difference between the storage capacitor area of the pixel in the compensation portion and that in the non-compensation portion is set to one constant basic compensation area. Afterward, the average of the storage capacitor areas of the pixels on each data line in the compensation transition portion progressively varies along the scanning line, where the average is greater than or equal to any of the storage capacitor areas of the pixels in the non-compensation portion. The direction of the scanning line is designated as either the direction in which scanning signals are transmitted or the direction opposite thereto.

Method for eliminating flickers of liquid crystal display

A method of forming a color filter layer having a light-scattering effect. First, substrate is provided, and a color filter layer is coated on the substrate. Then, an exposure-and-development process is performed to pattern the color filter layer. Subsequently, the color filter layer is post-baked to render the color filter layer a rough surface to provide the light-scattering effect, wherein the color filter layer has a surface roughness index Rz in the range of 0.5 to 2.0 &#x3bc;m.

Method of forming color filter layer having light-scattering effect

A liquid crystal display is suitable for displaying images with rapid motions, and comprises an active matrix substrate equipped with a plurality of thin film transistors. The active matrix substrate comprises a plurality of pixels that are placed at the encircled areas of a plurality of scanning lines and a plurality of data lines. Each pixel consists of two thin film transistors and one pixel electrode. The data lines connected electrodes of the thin film transistors are connected to two adjoining data lines respectively, whereas the pixel connected electrodes of the two thin film transistors are together connected to the pixel electrode. The gate electrodes of the two thin film transistors are connected to two adjoining scanning lines respectively.

Display device and driving method thereof

A liquid crystal display panel with reduced flicker comprises an active matrix substrate equipped with a plurality of thin film transistors. The active matrix substrate has an active area that is formed with a plurality of first signal lines and a plurality of second signal lines crossing each other. The active area includes a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix. There are outer-lead bonding areas around the active area. There are a plurality of pad areas within the outer-lead bonding areas. A plurality of second wires arranged in a fan-out configuration extend from the pad areas and stretch toward the active area. The second wires are connected to their respective first signal lines by their serpentine or zigzag routes resulting in various wire lengths. A frame-like lead overlaps the second wires, and a capacitor exists between each of the second wires and the closed frame-like lead. The induced capacitor and the resistance of the corresponding second wire together result in a compensation effect so as to uniform the time constants of the plurality of first signal lines.

Liquid crystal display panel with reduced flicker

A pixel structure and repair method thereof. A through hole is formed in the common line. When the source/drain electrode of a thin film transistor is not electrically connected to a pixel electrode due to a polymer residue remaining in a contact hole, a first laser beam passes through the through hole to weld the source/drain electrode and the pixel electrode. The defective pixel can be thus repaired to display the original color. In addition, if the defective pixel fails due to a defective thin film transistor, the invention irradiates a second laser beam to sever the source/drain electrode such that the defective thin film transistor is not electrically connected to the pixel electrode. The defective pixel can be thus repaired to a dark point.

Pixel and method for pixel repair

A method and apparatus for gray level dynamic switching. The method is applied to driving a display with at least one pixel. In the method of the present invention, a gray level sequence Sis provided. Ssequentially represents two or more desired gray levels G(1), . . . , G(T) of the pixel at consecutive time frames 1, . . . , T and comprises a current gray level G(t) and a previous gray level G(t&#x2212;1) corresponding to time frames t and t&#x2212;1, respectively. Then, the pixel is driven with an optimized driving force V(t) to change the pixel forward to a state corresponding to G(t) according to G(t) and G(t&#x2212;1). In the present invention, the optimized driving voltage V(t) is determined by equations of V(t)=V(t&#x2212;1)+ODV and V(t)=a&#xd7;G(m)+b&#xd7;G(m)+c&#xd7;G(m)+d, wherein the voltage ODV is a minimum voltage capable of obtaining one gray level transition in a determined response time.
