A display device () of the present invention is configured in such a manner that a liquid crystal module () is inserted in the inside (of the inner faces) of a positioning frame () that is attached to a top window (). This eliminates the need to consider a positioning tolerance for the attachment. As a result, the display device can be reduced in size and a narrow frame can be achieved.

The width W1 of a groove () is formed narrower than the width W2 of a groove (). The width W2 of the groove () is formed at a prescribed width such that a sealing material () that overflows the groove () can be formed along the groove (). Liquid crystal display panel and liquid crystal display device

A display panel includes a first substrate in which a terminal area is defined along at least one edge thereof, and connection terminals are formed in the terminal area; and a second substrate which is bonded to the first substrate with sealing material being interposed between the first and second substrates, so as to expose the connection terminals. At an edge of the second substrate corresponding to the edge of the first substrate, at which the terminal area is defined, the second substrate includes protrusions protruding to the edge of the first substrate.

A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display panel includes applying a first frame-like sealing material, and a second sealing material adjacent to the first sealing material along at least one side of the first sealing material, on a first mother substrate; forming a spacer on a second mother substrate made of glass so as to extend between the first and second sealing materials; bonding the first mother substrate on which the first and second sealing materials are applied, and the second mother substrate on which the spacer is formed, to each other such that the first and second sealing materials are in contact with each other without gaps with the spacer being interposed therebetween, and that a liquid crystal layer is sealed within the frame defined by the first sealing material; and cutting the bonded mother substrates at an intermediate position in the width direction of the spacer.

Liquid crystal display panel and method for manufacturing the same

An object of the invention is to provide a high-contrast liquid crystal display apparatus which is excellent in display quality, with its substrates equally spaced with high accuracy. On a first and a second substrate are formed a color filter of three colors: red, green, and blue, electrodes for applying a voltage to a liquid crystal layer, orientation film layers for orienting liquid crystal, a pair of polarizing plates arranged in a crossed Nicol state, a TFT element, and a wire (not shown). The substrates are bonded together with spherical spacers interposed therebetween, thereby constituting the liquid crystal layer. Then, the spherical spacers are selectively placed in the color filter regions of red- and blue-color.
