A packer includes a cylinder of elastomer including: two flat ends, a longitudinal axis, an opening formed along the longitudinal axis, the opening configured to accommodate a cable, and at least one contact pressure feature running around a circumference of the cylinder. The cylinder is split perpendicular to the flat ends into two halves.

An inflatable packer system for an annular blowout preventer (BOP) includes an inflatable bladder configured to be positioned within a housing of the annular BOP and to inflate upon receipt of a fluid within the inflatable bladder. The inflatable bladder may be an annular structure that is configured to circumferentially surround a bore of the annular BOP.

Wireline valves with internal tool trap flappers are provided. In one embodiment, a wireline valve includes a main body with a bore sized to allow a downhole tool to pass through the main body of the wireline valve and a flapper positioned within the main body. The flapper is positioned with respect to the bore of the wireline valve such that the flapper can be moved between an open position that permits passage of the downhole tool through the bore of the main body of the wireline valve and a closed position that prevents passage of the downhole tool through the bore of the main body of the wireline valve in at least one direction. Additional systems, devices, and methods are also disclosed.

A blowout preventer ('BOP') includes a housing comprising a vertical bore extending through the housing and a packer assembly movably positioned within the housing and configured to form a seal within the housing. The packer assembly includes an elastomeric body comprising an elastomeric material and inserts positioned within the elastomeric body and in parallel alignment with respect to each other.

A blowout preventer including a top including a chamber and an annular groove extending into a surface of the top, a housing including a chamber and an annular groove extending into a surface of the housing, and a connection assembly configured to releasably couple the top to the housing, the connection assembly including an arcuate ring segment having a radial width that is greater in size than an axial height of the ring segment, and a positioner configured to radially displace the ring segment between a locked position restricting relative axial movement between the top and the housing, and an unlocked position allowing for relative axial movement between the top and the housing.

Systems and methods for assembling a blowout preventer

An annular blowout preventer includes a housing, an annular piston positioned within the housing, and an annular packer positioned within the housing. The annular blowout preventer also includes at least one radially-extending conduit disposed in the annular piston, the annular packer, or a plate positioned axially between the annular piston and the annular packer. The radially-extending conduit is configured to enable a fluid to flow from a central bore to an annular space between the annular packer and the housing when the annular blowout preventer is in a closed position.
