The invention generally relates to systems and methods for on-line reaction monitoring. In certain embodiments, the invention provides systems that include a reaction vessel having an outlet, a quantitation unit coupled to the outlet and configured to introduce internal standard and solvent into reaction solution flowed from the reaction vessel, one or more ion generating devices that receive flow from the quantitation unit, and a mass spectrometer. In certain embodiments, the invention provides systems for multiple reaction monitoring that include a plurality of reaction vessels, a plurality of ion generating devices, a plurality of channels, each channel coupling a reaction vessel to an ion generating device, an actuator coupled to the plurality of ion generating devices to thereby allow movement of the plurality of ion generating devices, and a mass spectrometer.

Reaction monitoring

The invention generally relates to electrophoretic mass spectrometry probes and systems and methods of uses thereof. In certain aspects, the invention provides a mass spectrometry probe having a hollow body with a distal tip, an electrically conductive hollow conduit, and an electrode. The electrically conductive hollow conduit may be operably coupled to a reservoir and a power source, and the electrically conductive hollow conduit may be configured to transport a liquid sample into the hollow body and polarize the liquid sample as it flows through the electrically conductive hollow conduit and into in the hollow body. The electrode and the electrically conductive hollow conduit are disposed within the hollow body (e.g., at different heights within the hollow body).

Electrophoretic mass spectrometry probes and systems and uses thereof

The invention generally relates to methods for determining whether a peptide includes aspartate or isoaspartate. In certain aspects, methods of the invention involve binding an aspartate/isoaspartate residue in a peptide with a label to produce a labeled peptide. The labeled peptide is then ionized. The ionizing process causes the label to undergo rearrangement in a gas phase at a higher rate if the label is bound to the aspartate residue as compared to if the label is bound to the isoaspartate residue. The methods of the invention then involve performing a mass spectrometry analysis to detect the rearrangement of the label, thereby determining whether the peptide includes aspartate or isoaspartate.
