A tablet computing system may include a housing member defining a first portion of a back exterior surface of the tablet computer, at least a portion of a side exterior surface of the tablet computer, a raised rim extending from the back exterior surface and at least partially defining a sensor assembly hole extending through the housing member, and a support ledge positioned in the sensor assembly hole. The tablet computing system may also include a frame member positioned at least partially in the sensor assembly hole and coupled to the support ledge, a camera bracket coupled to the frame member, a first camera module coupled to the camera bracket, aa second camera module coupled to the camera bracket, the camera bracket fixing the relative positions of the first camera module and the second camera module, and a cover member positioned in the sensor assembly hole and attached to the frame member.

Housing structure for handheld electronic device

Sensors capable of detection of user objects within different detection zones can be used to reduce power consumption of a touch screen interface of an electronic device, even while the device is in a suspended or sleep state. At least one object sensor, such as a capacitive sensor, has a detection zone or range exceeding the range of a touch screen sensor, so the touch screen sensor can be placed into a low power state until the object sensor detects a user object in a position approaching the touch screen. The object sensor(s) are positioned around or within the perimeter of the interaction area of the touch screen. The object sensor(s) can have less power consumption than the touch screen sensors, so the electronic device can have extended standby battery life or other more energy efficient operation. Object sensors are also used to detect gestures or user object positioning.

Proximity detection for touch input devices

Computing devices and methods are used to detect and compensate for the presence of a cover layer on a touch input device. A computing device includes a processing device, a touch input device in electronic communication with the processing device, and a memory device in electronic communication with the processing device and having electronic instructions encoded thereon. The electronic instructions, when executed by the processing device, cause the processor to receive a first signal obtained from the touch input device over a first duration of time, the first signal including a first signal pattern, receive a second signal obtained from the touch input device over a second duration of time separate from the first duration of time, the second signal including a second signal pattern, determine a difference between the first signal pattern and the second signal pattern, and adjust a touch input detection setting based on the difference.

Cover layer detection for touch input devices

Methods, structures, and apparatus that are able to detect the presence of liquid, moisture, or other contaminants in or on a connector. Examples provide a connector having a dedicated liquid-detect contact that does not have a corresponding contact in a corresponding connector. Examples provide liquid-detect circuitry that can use the liquid-detect contact to determine the presence of a liquid on or in the connector and can perform self-diagnostic tests such as continuity checks and calibration.

Liquid detection and corrosion mitigation

An electronic device may have a camera. The camera may capture still and moving images. A camera status indicator may be included in the electronic device. The camera status indicator may emit light to indicate when the camera is in use capturing video or other images. The camera status indicator may have multiple light-emitting devices such as light-emitting diodes or lasers. The light-emitting devices may have different colors. Clear encapsulant may cover the light-emitting devices. A white polymer wall or other light recycling structure may run along an outer peripheral edge of the encapsulant. A light diffusing coating layer may coat an outer surface of the clear encapsulant. Light reflections from the status indicator may be reduced in captured images.

Aspects of the subject technology relate to low noise microphone assemblies for electronic devices. A microphone assembly may include components for sensing sound, mounted on a substrate, under a cover disposed on the substrate. The components may receive sound through an opening in the substrate. The microphone assembly may include an interposer on the substrate. The interposer includes one or more contacts on a surface that is spatially separated from the surface of the substrate, in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the substrate. A first side of the substrate may be mounted to an inner surface of a housing of the electronic device. The components, the cover, and the interposer may be mounted to an opposing second side of the substrate. A flexible printed circuit may be coupled to the contacts on the surface of the interposer, and mechanically attached to a surface of the cover.

Sensor assembly for electronic device

A wireless charging system including a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter is formed of a coil of wire that includes a first loop portion, a second loop portion, and a crossing portion. The crossing portion electrically couples the first loop portion and the second loop portion such that when current is generated in the coil, electrical current flows through the first loop portion in a different rotational direction than in the second loop portion. The receiver is formed of a ferromagnetic core and multiple (e.g., three) coils disposed about the ferromagnetic core. Each coil may be disposed about a different axis of the core such that current may be induced in at least one of the coils by a magnetic field in any direction.

Wireless charging station

A wireless charging table comprising a table top having an upper surface upon which one or more electronic devices can be placed, a wireless charging transmitter positioned under the upper surface of the table top, the wireless charging transmitter comprising a plurality of transmitter coils that define a charging region at the upper surface of the table top, and a power distribution system operatively coupled to the wireless charging transmitter, the power distribution system configured to receive power from an alternating current (AC) power source and distribute power to the wireless charging transmitter.
