A ligating instrument comprising an anvil body and a staple driving body with a longitudinal groove which accommodates a staple magazine with staple pushers and a wedge. The latter is mounted on a carriage arranged in guides provided on the lateral walls of the staple driving body. The instrument incorporates a device for adjusting the ligation spacing, which comprises a stationary axle mounted on the carriage transversely to the latter. The tapered portion of the wedge is fitted on this axle. The ligation spacing adjustment means also includes a movable support articulated to the wedge in its rear portion so that the movable support and the wedge can be set in motion at a perpendicular to the guides of the carriage.

Ligating instrument

A surgical stapling apparatus, comprising a thrust case incorporating a lengthwise groove. Said groove accommodates a magazine containing staples, and drivers of the staples, and a wedge interacting with said pushers and seating on a carriage supported in guides running along said staple case. A surface of said wedge interacting with said drivers is curvilinear, with lines tangent to the generatrix thereof and a travelling direction of said wedge located so as to constitute an angle varying gradually from 45 deg to zero between a front part of said wedge and the back part thereof in the direction of the wedge travel during stapling procedure.

The disclosure is made of a surgical instrument comprising a suturing device having a supporting body and a staple body with an ejector for ejecting staples therefrom for suturing, the bodies being coupled together by means of a pivot device adjacent one end, and a retainer is provided at the other end thereof for locking a relative position of the bodies. A cutting device is provided for cutting tissues. The pivot device is coupled to one of the bodies by means of a mechanism for moving the body in the plane thereof in parallel with itself with respect to the pivot device. The retainer is of a length which is adjustable in accordance with the amount of movement of one of the bodies.

Surgical instrument for resection of hollow organs

An instrument comprising a tubular staple case is disclosed, the case being traversed by a supporting rod extending outwardly therefrom with its front end. The tubular case is used to mount a plunger with a knife arranged on the rod. An abutment head mounted on the front end of the rod is made generally longitudinally detachable consisting of two members, an internal member detachably mounted on the front end of the rod and an external member encompassing the internal member and made up of interdetachable rests. Moreover, provision is made for a staple magazine and a female die with grooves for bending staples as well as a drive imparting motion to the plunger and a mechanism for adjusting the gap between an end of the case and an end of the head.

The staple has two legs interconnected through a web. Each of the legs carries a rod having a pointed bottom end and a head. The head has a slot for the web to pass. A through hole or passage is made in the rod, which is open at the slot in the head and at the side rod surface. The rigidity of the leg decreases from the zone of interconnection with the web towards the leg end. A method of and forceps for removal of such a surgical staple are also disclosed.

A surgical instrument for applying sutures of metal staples comprises an elongated staple inserting jaw and an elongated clinching jaw located alongside the former. The anterior operative tip of the staple inserting jaw contains magazines with staple recesses wherein staple driving members are also located, and the anterior operative tip of the clinching jaw has anvils located opposite said magazines and having grooves for bending the tips of said staples. The advancement of the driving members within the magazine recesses and the ejection of the staples is realized with the aid of an actuating bar located alongside the staple inserting jaw and being capable of moving longitudinally, and having an inclined camming surface at the tip facing the magazines that is intended for engaging with the staple driving members. The same tip of the actuating bar, somewhat rearwardly, has a pivotally connected disk-shaped knife for cutting the organs or tissues, the operative tip of the clinching jaw opposite said knife having an exchangeable elastic lining wherein the knife cuts in the course of tissue division.
