The present invention provides a power steering apparatus capable of improving a noise/vibration characteristic derived from a pitch difference. Assuming that a belt pitch refers to a pitch between a plurality of belt tooth portions, the belt pitch in a first state refers to the belt pitch when the power steering apparatus is in an unloaded state that no electric power is supplied to an electric motor, the belt pitch in a second state refers to the belt pitch on one side pulled by a motor pulley when electric power is supplied to the electric motor, and a first pulley pitch refers to a pitch between a plurality of tooth portions of a first pulley, which is one of the motor pulley and a nut pulley that is a pulley on a smaller diameter side, a power steering apparatus satisfies Equation 1: the belt pitch in the first state&#x3c;the first pulley pitch, and Equation 2: an absolute value of (the first pulley pitch&#x2212;the belt pitch in the second state)&#x3c;the first pulley pitch&#x2212;the belt pitch in the first state.

In a power steering device equipped with a rack shaft constructed by joining a first member having rack teeth and a second member serving as a ball screw shaft on which a ball screw groove is formed, a grinding process of the ball screw groove is performed on the second member by causing a grindstone to rotate and move along a rotation axis of the second member, while causing the second member to rotate about an axis of the second member as the rotation axis. The grinding process is performed so as to satisfy a specified machining condition 'g/(5&#xd7;p)&#x3c;w&#x3c;g/p', where w is a rotational speed of the second member during grinding of the ball screw groove, g is a rotational speed of the grindstone during grinding of the ball screw groove, and p is a circumferential length of one circumference of the ball screw groove around the rotation axis.

An object of the present invention is to provide a power steering apparatus and a method of manufacturing a power steering apparatus that allow balls to smoothly travel in a connection member for circulating the balls. To achieve this object, a first curved portion of a first connection passage of a nut that faces a first bent portion of the connection member is formed into a curved shape in such a manner that a space between the first curved portion and the first bent portion is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value. Further, a second curved portion of a second connection passage of the nut that faces a second bent portion of the connection member is formed into a curved shape in such a manner that a space between the second curved portion and the second bent portion is equal to or smaller than a predetermined value.

Power steering apparatus and method of manufacturing power steering apparatus

A power steering system is provided with a communicating hole and yet ensures the strength of a housing. Space between the housing and a wheel turning shaft is divided into two. Space located on one axial side of the bearing supporting a nut and the plurality of balls disposed in the nut is a first chamber, and space located on the other side is a second chamber. The communicating hole allowing communication between the first and second chambers is formed in the nut to open in the nut-side ball screw groove, avoiding a region in which the balls circulate, or in a member disposed radially further outside than the nut and radially inside than the inner wall of the housing.

A ball bearing for rotatably supporting a steering shaft, which is comprised of an input shaft and an output shaft connected to each other via a torsion bar is secured by a lock nut. The lock nut has an inside diameter Ygreater than a maximum outside diameter Xof the sensor body of a torque sensor mainly configured from a permanent magnet, first and second yoke members, and a magnetic sensor, which are disposed on the outer periphery of the steering shaft. With this configuration, the torque sensor and the lock nut radially overlap with each other, thus reducing the size of a device. Also, because of the lock nut being assembled so as to pass through the outer peripheral side of the torque sensor, component parts can be installed from one direction, thus improving the assembling workability of the device.

Torque detection structure for power steering device, and power steering device using same

A rotation detecting device includes first and second members that are rotatable relative to each other around a rotation axis, a magnetic member fixed to the first member and having poles alternately arranged around the rotation axis, a detecting member arranged to face the magnetic member and made of a magnetic material, and a holding member fixed to the second member. The holding member is made of thermoplastic resin and includes first and second holding members that are welded and fixed to each other. The detecting member is disposed between the first and second holding members to prevent relative contact between the detecting member and the second member. The rotation detecting device further includes a magnetic sensor that detects relative rotation between the first and second members by sensing a change of magnetic field in the detecting member due to the relative rotation.

Rotation detection device and power steering device

Disclosed is a torque sensor unit including a magnetic member fixed to a first output shaft member, a pair of first and second yoke members fixed to an input shaft member and surrounding an outer circumferential side of the magnetic member and a magnetic sensor adapted to detect a magnetic flux passing through between the yoke members. The magnetic member is provided with a sleeve and a permanent magnet. The sleeve is formed of a metal material in a substantially cylindrical shape and has a plurality of radially extending support portions and a plurality of axially extending engagement protrusions between the support portions. The permanent magnet is formed into an annular shape and has a plurality of axially extending engagement grooves cut in an inner circumferential surface thereof. The permanent magnet and the sleeve are coupled via a resin-based filling material.

Torque sensor unit

A nut is formed by a die forging process in which a die used for the die forging process is released in a direction along the direction of the axis of rotation of the nut.

Torque sensor has: magnetic member; first yoke member having (a) first nail portions arranged concentrically to face the magnetic member in radial direction and (b) first ring portion; second yoke member having (c) second nail portions arranged concentrically so that the first and second nail portions are circumferentially alternately arranged and the second nail portions face the magnetic member in radial direction and (d) second ring portion; first magnetic flux concentration ring provided between the first and second ring portions; second magnetic flux concentration ring provided between the second ring portion and the first magnetic flux concentration ring; and magnetic sensor. The first and second magnetic flux concentration rings and the first and second ring portions are arranged in layers in radial direction. A part or all of axial direction area of the first and second magnetic flux concentration rings is surrounded and shielded by the second ring portion.

Torque sensor and power steering system using the torque sensor

A steering angle sensor for a vehicle including a steering angle sensor housing, a first gear, a rotation transmitting portion, a second gear meshing with the first gear, a third gear meshing with the first gear or the second gear, first and second magnetoresistance effect elements to detect first and second rotation angles as rotation angles of the second and third gears, respectively, and a biasing member disposed in the steering angle sensor housing to bias the first gear toward the second gear, wherein the first and rotation angles are combined to determine an absolute steering angle indicative of an amount of rotation of a steering wheel when the steering wheel is rotated from a neutral position in which a steerable road wheel is oriented to a straight ahead direction of the vehicle.

Steering angle sensor

A steering angle sensoris provided which can minimize a detection error even when a steering shaftis inclined. In an annular clearance tdefined between the steering shaftand an inner cylindrical wall of a first gear, there is compressed an elastic O-ring. Due to provision of the elastic O-ring, inclination of the steering shaft, which tends to occur during handling of a steering wheel, is suitably absorbed by the elastic O-ring, and thus, generation of detection error caused by inclination of the first gear, which would follow the inclination of the steering shaft, is suppressed or at least minimized.

Torque sensor detects torque of steering shaft formed by first and second shafts which are connected through torsion bar. A power steering system having a housing having first and second housing sections, a steering shaft rotatably housed in the housing, a sensor coil, a coil bobbin having a coil holding part and a flange part and housed in the first housing section, a first held section provided at the flange part, a sensor board housed in the housing, a second held section provided at the sensor board, first and second riveting portions provided at the first housing section, and an electric motor. The first riveting portion fixes the coil bobbin to the first housing section by melting and deforming the first riveting portion with the first held section touching the first riveting portion. The second riveting portion fixes the sensor board to the first housing section by melting and deforming the second riveting portion with the second held section touching the second riveting portion.

Power steering system and method for assembling the power steering system

A bracket for connecting a steering rack housing to a vehicle body comprises a cylindrical inner member that is secured to one of the steering rack housing and the vehicle body; an outer member having a cylindrical bore in which the cylindrical member is disposed leaving a cylindrical space therebetween, the outer member being secured to the other one of the steering rack housing and the vehicle body; a first cylindrical elastic member received in the cylindrical space while being compressed between the inner and outer members; and a second elastic member put on at least one of axial ends of the outer member. The first and second elastic members are produced through different production processes.
