A storage system includes control devices and a second processor. The second processor determines a number of abnormal batteries when an abnormality has occurred in a first battery. The second processor assigns a second cache currently assigned to a second control device associated with the first battery to a first control device when the number is smaller than a threshold. The second processor assigns a mirror cache currently assigned to the second control device to a third control device when the number is smaller than the threshold. The second processor instructs the first control device to control write to a first storage device associated with a first cache by using the first cache. Data of the first cache is mirrored to the mirror cache. The second processor instructs the first control device to control write to a second storage device associated with the second cache by using the second cache.

Storage system and monitor device

A determining unit selects one storage device each from storage devices of an external storage apparatus and storage devices of a storage apparatus to which the determining unit belongs. At this point, based on a copy request, the determining unit preferentially selects, within each of the external storage apparatus and the storage apparatus, a storage device including a larger number of logical volumes (LVs) which belong to copy unexecuted LV pairs compared to other storage devices therein. Further, the determining unit determines, as a copy execution target, a copy unexecuted LV pair in which a LV provided in one of the selected two storage devices is a copy source and a LV provided in the other storage device is a copy destination. A copy unit copies data stored in the copy source LV, which belongs to the determined LV pair, to the copy destination LV of the LV pair.

Apparatus and method for handling abnormalities occurring during startup

An information processing apparatus manages activation of a program by a task which is a unit of execution, and executes a task for each sequence in units of process block. The information processing apparatus has a nonvolatile memory which keeps an execution state management table. The execution state of the process block is stored in the execution state management table. The control unit performs a first activation procedure which initializes the execution state management table and, while updating the execution state in the execution state management table, executes the task. When activation by the first activation procedure has failed, the control unit performs activation by a second activation procedure and identifies a suspicious sequence. When activation by the second activation procedure has failed, the control unit performs activation by a third activation procedure and identifies a suspicious task.

A disk control apparatus performing input/output control of data of a storage disk device according to an input/output request from a host includes a cache memory which stores a part of the data and a management table which has format information for indicating whether a track of the storage disk device has been initialized to a predetermined track format for each track of the storage disk device. A control unit creates track format information of the predetermined track format referring to the management table when an input/output request is received from the host. A remote unit transfers initialization information of the management table to another disk control apparatus of a secondary center according to a copy instruction from the host. The control unit updates the format information of the target track in the management table to complete initialization of the target track.

Remote disk control apparatus, and remote disk control method

A disk control apparatus formats each track of a storage disk device in a short time. The disk control apparatus () has a cache memory () which stores a part of data, a management table () which indicates whether a track of the storage disk device () has been initialized to a predetermined track format, and control units () which create the track format referring to the management table () when an input/output request is received from the host (). The factory shipment format flag of this management table is set to '1' when factory formatting is executed, and the table is transferred to the disk. By this method, high-speed factory formatting is possible.
