The invention provides a natural fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin injection molding having an excellent ability to discharge static electricity. The natural fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin injection molding is obtained by injection-molding with using natural fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin pellets as a molding feedstock containing natural fibers as reinforcing fibers, has a natural fiber content of from 20 to 60 wt %. The natural fibers have an average length of from 1.5 to 4.0 mm. The natural fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin injection molding has an electrostatic voltage half-life, as determined by the half-life measurement method specified in JIS L 1094, of less than 40 seconds.

The apparatus of the invention is an injection molding apparatus of a type adapted to cool a molten metal under shearing by an extrusion screw in a substantially vertical chamber into a semi-solidified slurry and then inject the semi-solidified slurry discharged from a discharge port at the lower end of a channel into molding plates, in which a clamping device is adapted to open or close a movable plate relative to a stationary plate in the horizontal direction, and a connection member having, at the inside, a vertical first channel and a second channel extending in the horizontal direction from the lower end of the first channel and in communication with the stationary plate is connected to the discharge port at the lower end of the chamber. Since this can inject and mold light metal molding products of high quality with less pore or shrinkage without excessively enlarging the size for the height of the apparatus, casting products of high quality can be obtained at a reduced cost by injection molding.

In the case of thickening a feed resin without pre-drying, a device is taught to enhance the thickening effect. The device includes a chamber having a mixing rotor therein for continuously mixing a resin between a feed port and a discharge port . A plurality of vent ports connected to vacuum pumps are provided for reducing the pressure in the chamber. An element, e.g. a screw feeder , is provided for introducing a viscosity-increasing chemical agent into the chamber. The screw feeder is isolated from the reduced pressure areas of the chamber by elements , e.g. reverse screw flights of the rotor. In operation, feed resin from a hopper enters the chamber through port and is dehydrated while being continuously mixed in a drying section via vents . After addition of the chemical agent, the resin is continuously mixed in a thickening section while being deaerated.

A continuous kneader is disclosed wherein rotors each having a material feed section and a kneading section on the outer peripheral surface thereof are inserted rotatably into a chamber while being supported at both axial ends thereof, the said chamber having a material supply port at one end portion thereof, a discharge section is formed at an end portion of each rotor opposite to the material supply side for scraping out the material after kneaded by the rotor radially outwards of the rotor, and a discharge port for discharging the kneaded material thus scraped out in the discharge section of each rotor to the exterior of the chamber is formed in the opposite end portion of the chamber so as to be open radially outwards of the rotor, the discharge section of each rotor having on its outer peripheral surface a twist flight which is inclined in a direction of extruding the kneaded material to the opposite end side of the chamber with rotation of the rotor.

A polyester resin is thickened in a chamber by first introducing the feed resin through a port and dehydrating in a drying section under reduced pressure. A chemical agent is then added to the dehydrated feed resin and mixed therewith in a thickening section The mixing occurs while deaerating under reduced pressure. The chemical agent functions to either increase the viscosity of the feed resin or suppress the lowering thereof.

A kneaded product of a desired state of kneading is available by causing a material to be kneaded to flow in tip clearances between rotor segments 1b and 1b of screw sets 1 and 1 and an inner wall surface of a chamber 4 while rotating the screw sets 1 and 1 provided to the right and the left of the chamber 4, and imparting a shearing force for dispersion. Each rotor segment 1b has a plurality of kneading blade 7 having different distances between the segment center and the top, so as to achieve a plurality of tip clearances different at least in the circumferential direction when the segment center is aligned with the chamber center.

Twin-screw kneading apparatus

An internal mixer and controller enables the phase difference and the speed ratio between two rotors to be changed without stopping the operation of the mixer. The internal mixer comprises: nonintermeshed first and second rotors disposed in a mixing chamber; first and second drive units; first and second phase measuring devices; first and second speed measuring devices; and a control unit for controlling the first and second drive units on the basis of signals from the first and second speed measuring devices and signals from the first and second phase measuring devices. The control unit controls the two rotors so as to synchronously rotate at the same speed on the basis of the signals from the speed measuring devices when the two rotors fixedly rotate at the same speed. When the phase difference between the two rotors is changed, the control unit calculates the phase difference from the signals from the phase measuring devices, compares the calculated phase difference with a set phase difference, and controls the second drive unit to change the speed of the second rotor, thereby changing the phase. When the phase difference is equal to the set phase difference, the control unit again controls the two rotors so as to synchronously rotate at the same speed on the basis of the signals from the speed measuring devices. When the two rotors are rotated at different speeds, the control unit controls the drive units so that the speed of each of the rotors is equal to the set speed, respectively, on the basis of the measured speed from speed measuring devices.

An injection molding process for forming high strength, long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin, and for holding damage to the pellet-shaped thermoplastic resin to a minimum even when being plasticized, and maintaining the fiber length of pellet-shaped fiber bundles while unwinding the fibers and melting the resin. After the long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin has been heated and melted, pressure is applied to unwind the long fiber-reinforced thermoplastic resin while melted, and injection molding then performed.

An object of the present invention is to provide a control method for a kneader suitable for controlling the kneader so as to uniformly disperse a compounding agent in a high-molecular material, enabling energy saving. In controlling the kneader for charging the high-molecular material and the compounding agent into a kneading chamber and kneading the mixture of the high-molecular material and the compounding agent so as to uniformly disperse the compounding agent in the high-molecular material, the control method includes the steps of measuring a sound wave generating from the kneading chamber during kneading, detecting whether or not a waveform of the sound wave has become a waveform generating when the compounding agent is uniformly dispersed, and deciding that the kneading is ended if the waveform of the sound wave has become the waveform generating when the compounding agent is uniformly dispersed. It is preferable to perform envelope detection of the sound wave in controlling the kneader. Further, detection of a second torque peak of the kneader from the sound wave is effective for the control.
