A clutch friction material includes a base material containing a rubber material and a thermosetting resin. The clutch friction material also includes an intermediate layer disposed on the base material. The intermediate layer includes either a glassy carbon structure or a graphite structure formed as a result of thermal curing of the thermosetting resin contained in the base material. In addition, the clutch friction material includes an outermost surface layer disposed on the intermediate layer. The outermost surface layer contains a pyrolysate produced as a result of pyrolysis of rubber and resin components contained in the base material.

Friction material for clutch

A friction engagement element has a friction member including resin, and a metal member having a sliding surface slidable on the friction member. The friction member has an aged layer at an outermost layer of the friction member, and a hardened layer in abutment with an inner side of the aged layer in a thickness direction of the friction member. The sliding surface of the metal member has a plurality of recesses, and a transferred film of the aged layer of the friction member transferred and adhered to insides of the plurality of recesses through sliding between the friction member and the metal member.

Friction engagement element, dry clutch, and method of manufacturing friction engagement element

The invention provides a clutch seal which can enhance a durability of a membrane portion which is a constituting part of a seal and is constructed by a rubber-like elastic body, and can inhibit a working fluid from standing in a concave surface of the membrane portion. The clutch seal of the invention is an annular seal interposed between a clutch plate in a dry clutch and a piston pressing the clutch plate, has a middle ring fixed to the piston between an outer ring and an inner ring which are fixed to a clutch housing, and has membrane portions constructed by a rubber-like elastic body respectively between the outer ring and the middle ring and between the inner ring and the middle ring, wherein the middle ring is arranged at an intermediate position of a stroke in an initial shape of the membrane portion.
