The present invention provides a material for intraocular lens which has improved hydrolysis resistance. The material for intraocular lens according to the present invention is obtained by polymerizing a monomer composition comprising: a base monomer, a hydrophilic monomer, and a cross-likable monomer, wherein the base monomer comprises an aromatic ring-containing acrylate monomer and an alkoxyalkyl methacrylate monomer having an alkoxyalkyl group having four or less carbon atoms. A blending ratio on a molar basis of the methacrylate monomer with respect to the acrylate monomer in all the monomer components contained in the monomer composition is 0.25 to 1.00.

Material for intraocular lens

An intraocular lens includes a polymeric lens material formed from a polymerizable composition. The polymerizable composition includes: (a) a single aromatic acrylate monomer which is an aromatic-ring containing acrylate; (b) an alkoxyalkyl methacrylate monomer having an alkoxyalkyl group with 4 or less carbon atoms; (c) an alkyl acrylate monomer having an alkyl group with 1 to 20 carbon atoms; (d) a hydrophilic monomer; and (e) a crosslinkable monomer.

Intraocular lens

The present invention provides a peptide composition that can achieve both excellent storage stability and transparency. The peptide composition of the present invention includes: a self-assembling peptide; a buffering agent having a pKa of 3.5 or more and less than 7.5 and containing one or more nitrogen atoms; and water, and has a pH of from 4.5 to 6.6.

A method of molding an ophthalmic lens product by using a mold assembly which has a mold cavity, the lens product having a configuration corresponding to that of an ophthalmic lens or a precursor of the ophthalmic lens and being obtained by polymerizing a liquid monomer composition in the mold cavity to provide a polymer product which gives the lens product, the method comprising the steps of: preparing the mold assembly having a monomer storage space for storing the liquid monomer composition, which storage space is held in fluid communication with the mold cavity; filling the mold cavity of the mold assembly with the liquid monomer composition while the liquid monomer composition is accommodated in the monomer storage space; and polymerizing the liquid monomer composition at a temperature of 10-80&deg; C. while a pressure higher than the atmospheric pressure is applied directly to a liquid surface of a mass of the liquid monomer composition accommodated in the monomer storage space.

There is provided a material for a soft intraocular lens, which has excellent transparency and flexibility, can be inserted from a small incision and has an high refractive index independent on a water content. The material comprises (A) 5-25 % by weight of acrylate containing an aromatic ring, (B) 50-90 % by weight of 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate, and (C) 5-45 % by weight of a (meth)acrylate monomer having the coefficient of water absorption of the homopolymer thereof of not more than 30 % by weight, except for (A) acrylate containing an aromatic ring and (B) 2-hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate.

A method of producing an intraocular lens including a lens body, and at least one support member each of which is inserted into a mounting hole open in a circumferential surface of the lens body, the lens body being obtained by polymerization of a monomer composition in a mold assembly which defines a mold cavity having a profile following that of the lens body, the method comprising the steps of: installing a separately prepared insert member on the mold assembly such that the insert member is located within the mold assembly at a position of the mold cavity corresponding to a region of the lens body where the mounting hole is formed; polymerizing the monomer composition in the mold assembly to provide a workpiece which gives the lens body, such that the workpiece includes the insert member; obtaining the lens body from the workpiece such that at least a portion of the insert member is embedded as an insert in the region of the lens body; and forming the mounting hole in the insert.
