A manual sheet feeding mechanism adapted for use in a sheet processing apparatus includes a manual feeding tray and a guiding member. The manual feeding tray is adapted to be mounted on a side wall of the apparatus so as to be pivotable about an axis between an open position and a closed position. The manual feeding tray has a placement surface for placing a sheet to be manually fed into the apparatus. The guiding member is adapted to position a sheet placed on the placement surface and is provided so as to be movable on the placement surface. The manual sheet feeding mechanism also includes a moving member that is adapted, when the manual feeding tray is pivoted toward the closed position, to move the guiding member on the placement surface.

Provided is an image forming apparatus support structure which permits improvements in both strength and dimensional accuracy, and which can also accommodate increases in size. Because respective coupling member(s) and steel channel of respective post member(s) may be sequentially and individually connected, it is possible to improve support structure dimensional accuracy, it being possible to assemble support structure(s) such that deviation(s) in the respective coupling member(s) and the respective post member(s) offset(s) one another. Furthermore, steel channel is suitable for supporting load(s) in vertical direction(s). Moreover, respective coupling member(s) may serve as brace(s) when interposed between respective post members. Where this is the case, strength of the overall support structure may be made extremely high, and strain exhibited by the overall support structure may be reduced.

In an inkjet printer, when image forming operation(s) is or are interrupted, if print coverage(s) at recording paper prior to such interruption(s) is or are not more than prescribed value(s), recording medium or media undergo normal transport when operation(s) resume so as to permit image forming operation(s) which was or were underway at recording paper to resume. If print coverage(s) exceed prescribed value(s), recording paper is forcibly discharged when operation(s) resume.

A media discharging device for an ink-jet printer includes a rubber roller and star roller. A pair of paper guides are arranged on both sides, with respect to its rotary shaft of, the star roller, opposing each other and close to the star roller. Each paper guide has a slant which is inclined gradually upward in the paper discharge direction. This slant is positioned offset with respect to the path of movement of the projections on the star roller towards the paper discharge side, so as to prevent the rear edge of the recording paper from dropping into the recessed portions of the star roller.

A printer system includes an ink ribbon end detector for detecting that the ink ribbon cassette has been used to the end; an used ink ribbon cassette holding position memory device for storing therein information indicative of holding position of a used ink ribbon cassette held on a stocker when the ink ribbon cassette end detection means detects that an ink ribbon has been used to the end, and a cassette holding determining device for determining whether or not an ink ribbon cassette whose ink ribbon has not been used is set in the stocker based on holding information. In the printer system having the described arrangement, an optimal available ink ribbon cassette is selected, and in the case of storing plural ink ribbon cassettes in the same color, a continuous printing operation of a large capacity may be performed without using user's hands.
